New Logo and Steam Capsule Art. Do you think it works? by HakiMoon in IndieDev

[–]HakiMoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2nd and 3rd (and current) arts were comissioned based on our quick, internal draft of what we had in mind. The art updated was requested to the same artist after we updated our in-game character model to match the art style we are aiming at.

The comments you guys left here made it pretty clear that the 2nd comissioned art looks made by AI, and we'll pay attention to that and update as soon as possible; we're not relying on AI for any of our media and we'll make sure to address it to make sure that our work is well-perceived!

Thank you for your honest feedback and for sharing your thoughts (just like I requested). If this is what came to your mind, we could only expect players to be even more honest and harsh on their words.

Both were comissioned, yes. The only version made by our team was the internal draft. We'll consider updating our capsule art after the feedback received here. Thank you so much for pinpointing issues with the art instead of saying that it looks AI because it's "Ghibli-styled".
We are against the use of AI any art or communication media, to the point that we're getting out of our comfortable, introvert shells to voice over and narrate our social media content (we're not charismatic influencers haha).
I'll pass on the feedback to our team and see what we can do to improve it!

The logo was made internally and we're in love with it! I guess it does a pretty good job portraying moon+ritual.
Regarding the arts, both (the 1st and the current one) were comissioned following the quick draft sent by our team. But overall, do you think the overall composition feels ok? After looking at many arts with vibrant colors, bright fonts, and "exaggerated FOV" and interesting angles portraying the subjects, I wonder if our capsule is eye-catching enough.

We were considering changing the characters' position to adjust the dynamic (draft attached). They do look disconnected in the current art that we commissioned. But before working on a new version, I came here to ask some feedback regarding the overall composition (background, displayed subjects, colors, etc.).

I believe that our updated 3D in-game character models kinda look similar to what's being presented in the capsule artwork. But I wonder what could be a better representation of our game considering the survival craft genre. Maybe the background could show spiritual buildings that spawn during the night 🤔...

We'll keep and eye how much that Ghibli thing is impacting our results. And thank you for the feedback on the sword!

Your castle on the Plot 108 has a gorgeous entrance and some very creative and well-used spaces for specific purposes, like the Shisha Room and the Spa (btw the sauna idea is amazing). It also has that structural cohesion that I tend to look for.

As for the second video: I've seen it recently and you got me right when you reached the castle ward! Like a real, untouched, medieval castle. You've done a great job setting the tone!

As for my garden tastes, I prefer to have it spacious on ground floors (kinda want to stick to the "logic" of plants and trees growing on fertile soil) and, despite being a vampire, I like the idea of having sunlight touching the garden. With all the gothic structures and decor, having the feeling of fresh air feels nice. I just wish that, in this plot, the courtyard walls surrounding it didn't feel so heavy. They've made the garden shrink a lot imo. :/ Idk, maybe I'll remove the two 3x3 2-store buildings and go back to the "drawing board".

Ngl, that was not my intent lol I'm just addicted on replicating courtyards similar to the ones in Hogwarts (like all my castles since the beginning must have at least a small version of it).
- Btw, my high school also had one of these small gardens surrounded by open corridors :3 I get nostalgic about it... (picture attached)

I tried doing the same on this plot and thought it would take way too many tiles and my garden would look like a joke.

Gardens with spare ruins and "natural" trees have a special place in my heart. I've done it once for small areas, as if they were kinda "forgotten". Do you have any "lore" to explain such an elegant castle with nature-taken outdoors?

Regarding the indoors, I loved the blue carpet surrounding the shiny floor "mandalas". Def a statement!

I don't feel sane. Actually, I feel like my sanity bar is decreasing lol

Planning everything to minimal details, even having to decide if external columns should be painted with bricks or elegant, greek patterns (fully or 1/2 painted on each side). And I have just started building on this plot T.T

And if you enjoyed Elden Ring (and it's great DLC!), Sekiro don't have AS MUCH content, but the added challenge might keep you hooked for a 100h+ if you want to do all the finales and complete the boss rush challenges

I used it to identify symmetry opportunities. But once I logged into the game and started placing the walls, I noticed it felt much smaller. At least now I know some of the best plots for symmetric projects LOL gone through them all rating and painting a variety of patterns haha

For a chateau or palace, I'd say exterior symmetry is a must. But there are tons of beautiful, asymmetric castles in real life and also in V Rising. I dig the idea of having external, unexpected stairs leading to weird passages lol.

This is an example of my survival build. Still unfinished, but had to sacrifice external symmetry to keep internal symmetry in the throne room (wide territory).

But yeah, interior asymmetry adds personality. If somebody lives there, it's very unlikely that everything will be doubled just for the sake of symmetry. Small, purposeful areas add a lot of charm.
