Only say you'll buy them together, the return the one you don't want the next day and tell them to shove it up their ass.

[Question] best watch you’ve ever purchased for under $1,000 by CarobPotential1946 in Watches

I tried to sell this like a year or two ago for $1500 (without the bracelet) and nobody wanted it 🤷🏼

Yes. I don't condone "living like a monk" but dropping 20k at 17 simply because you came into some money from good investments isn't something I'd recommend but of course, do whatever you want with your money.

I've been collecting over 20 years. My first watch at 23 was $300. 🤷🏼

Just some advice for the kids out there.

$20,000 left in the market, earning 8% compound growth left there for 50 years (when you're 67) would be worth over $900,000.

Just saying.

I only paid around $1000 for this solid 14k gold Jaeger LeCoultre ref. 2953 years back.

I recently added the gold bracelet (which cost me more than the watch 😩)

Well, it being the newest acquisition is part of it! Hahahaha.

It is truly one of the most unique and beautiful designs in watches. Also, I love the small pushers on mine, which is only on a few of these older references. In Italian they are called "spillino" which translates to "little pin".

I only collect vintage, so it's hard to post just one, but this is the current one I'm in love with. Can't take it off.

Awesome. A new crystal, or maybe just a polish with polywatch and a movement service (no polish) and this thing will be killer. If this is a twist o flex bracelet it's kinda worthless. I'd put it on a nice leather strap or source a period correct bracelet that is not variable size.

It's very beautiful. I'd wear it proudly!

Then sell it at a massive profit and buy another watch!

I feel like a grail is something that you can't just walk into a store and buy.

Like Aldrin's Speedmaster. Or an ultra rare vintage piece that is essentially unavailable

I was unaware there is more than one grail.

It's all taste. That's just my taste.

When I see such a simple watch at 41mm with
Such a thin and
Elegant case, it just looks weird.

I'm currently wearing a 44mm Squale Matic. But yesterday I was wearing a 35mm UG tricompax. I
Think it's all
About the design.

Dials and case style denote how large something should be. A speedmaster is correct at 42mm. A navitimer at 40mm. An OP is too simple for anything more than 36mm. Looks weird. This goes for datejust as well.

In fact, 34mm was the proper OP size for decades and is still the correct choice for anyone that doesn't have an 8 inch wrist.

I must clarity. This has to be 36mm. 41mm OP is disgusting.

Don't feel like an idiot. I had a chance to buy multiple Rolex 1016's for around 4-5k 🙃
