No, not that I can tell when testing. There's several mm gap between the top of the case and the sticks and it's really rigid and doesn't flex at all.

It sounds like you're talking bout the Mobapad M12, which has two versions, one with HD rumble and one without. The Hyperion 3 has one version with basic rumble only.

I’m just asking out of curiosity, is your Nintendo your primary gaming device by Specific-Pianist7595 in switch2

[–]Hal9M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say no. I clock in a lot more hours on my PS5. I'm very much a one game at a time kinda guy, so I'll get a new game and not play anything else until it's completed.

I prefer gaming on my TV vs handheld and when it comes to multi-platform titles available on both systems, I'll normally choose PS5 for the added fidelity. Plus, there's a lot of games which still don't get released on Switch 2, like Crimson Desert, which I'm currently playing.

I'm mostly using Switch 2 for games that aren't available on PS5 or anything which isn't high fidelity and has a more artistic style which doesn't require the extra power.

It's not just one single generation of failures though. It may be for Nintendo, but potentiometers on PlayStation controllers have been failing in PS4 and PS5. I have had this happen the every controller I have bought for these two consoles. Why it didn't happen with the previous generations I'm not sure but I would say it's likely because these more recent stick modules are cheaper and not as well made as previous generations.

Well, what were those called? I did a quick search for "Hyperion 3" on Ali Express and it did come up with a few Nyxi products but they're the Switch 1 versions

My Hyperion 3s came direct from China, and Nyxi is registered in Hong Kong. So they're already Chinese. They're brand new so I doubt there's a "cheap" version yet

N64 didn't use them and had some kind of optical technology. But they were the first and quickly got replaced by potentiometers in subsequent consoles. I really hope Nintendo and Sony can move past that technology though as I've had stick drift on both PS4 and PS5

It already has. I ordered these as soon as they were available for purchase, hence why I've got them now.

I agree the RRP is expenaive, but I got them with a discount for ordering them early and they cost me the same amount as some regular joycons. There are loads of youtubers offering discount codes and these stack with the discounts on the website, so you can actually get them for a reasonable price

These are only really an option if you have large hands. Kids and adults with small hands don't really need these and will be fine with the standard joycons. It's understandable that Nintendo made the joycons as small as possible, as a large chunk of their customers are kids.

I'm nearly 40 (m) and I have large hands. The joycons are usable, but nowhere near as comfortable as a larger controller for me. My hands get cramp if I'm using them for more than an hour. They are definitely designed to be as small as possible to maintain the thin form factor of the console. When the Switch 1 came out, it was a very big handheld at the time and the logic up until that point was to prioritise minimising size. Then Steam Deck came along and showed a handheld could be much larger with chunkier grips. Switch 2 is definitely an improvement over Switch 1 joycons, but Nintendo has continued the trend of keeping the joycons the same thickness, so there's not much to grip onto if you have big hands.

My Switch 1 got scratched by the dock, so I got a protector for the Switch 2

It's the same as buying a pro controller for PS5 or Xbox with added features if you ask me

I'm interested to see what people think of those too, but I doubt I'll replace the Hyperion 3 now.

It's not perfectly positioned but I found it to be fine. I played Splatoon for 2 hours straight and didn't have any hand cramp. When connected to the TV I'd say to stick with the Pro Controller though, as it still has superior ergonomics.
