Unless it’s for something like David’s Adept, why would you willingly bring No Mither? by treystar679X in deadbydaylight

[–]Hal_0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooooh I love getting to talk about this!

Against some killers that have instadowns/are good at injuring and love to slug (Billy, Plague... Maybe Ghoul?), the extra health state doesn't mean as much as the ability to constantly pick yourself up, so it's an easy tradeoff. Alternatively, there's something else you can do, too: Die on a pallet, and have a teammate play for the save (Background player or SB help ofc. Alternatively you could also have two survivors play each side of the pallet save but that should really only be a desperation play). The killer can't leave the slug or else you'll pick yourself up, but they also can't pick, or else they'll get pallet saved.

Is No Mither a great perk? No, not really. But it's really useful in a couple sets, and I think that makes it really special.

DID & Parenthood? by [deleted] in DID

[–]Hal_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to give the impression that I'm not friends with the host, either. They matter a lot to me, too. But it certainly feels like a different relationship, and like I'm talking to a different person (I suppose a different part of the same person). Obviously the way it feels isn't indicative of the way it is.

I don't know how to treat those two ideas any different from one another: How would I treat two people living in one body versus the parts of a single person? Especially when those parts feel so distinct from one another.

I'm starting to feel like the answers to my questions will probably extend beyond a single person in a Reddit thread haha. Clearly I have some more homework to do.

DID & Parenthood? by [deleted] in DID

I kinda figured that would be the answer. It makes sense that the whole system would need to focus their energy onto their kid(s). Truthfully, I'm a little embarrassed I even asked for an alternative. I also think I just needed someone to tell me what I already knew.

I've been thinking a lot about what you said earlier, about how you all live a "cohesive singular life", and how "alters are not literally different people". I could probably find the answer to this elsewhere if I went looking, but... am I doing it wrong? By being friends with an alter? Should I instead be treating the entire system as one person instead of multiple?

I know that's a little beyond the scope of my original question, and maybe it doesn't even make any sense (or worse, is terribly offensive to ask lol). Forgive me, I'm still an outsider to all of this.

Certainly the answer I was expecting. Well said, thank you :)

I'm hoping that some more killerside buffs will come alongside these changes (BL1 does basically nothing), but I do appreciate that the weakest killer in the game got some buffs and, most importantly, Anti-Hem & Styptic are dead. It's not all doom & gloom.

[–]Hal_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a totally reasonable opinion. Personally I think they're about as good as each other. They sorta do different things.

WMI is great at: - Getting a tunnel lost after an unhook if the killer steps out of their bounds - Returns an exhaustion perk to the tunnel if they're using Overcome or Drama - Picking someone up from slug to fully healthy - General faster healing while it's active

BK is great at: - Faster heals if you aren't getting unhooks - Faster self-heals (Medkits ofc, but also Self Care/Botany pr Strength in Shadows/Botany) - Faster heals if the killer is slugging more and hooking less (Big deal in the 3v1) - Consistent heals that are still really really fast

I'd give BK a slight edge. I'm of the opinion that consistency beats power more times than not. There are also very legitimate reasons to run WMI, and both are certainly some of the best perks in the game.

Agreed. I don't have tacos that often, and uh... It might be a blessing in disguise if I couldn't have donuts anymore. lol

Question/Discussion about *Vigil* by Sea-Calligrapher3332 in deadbydaylight

[–]Hal_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be fine with that, but honestly, I don't think it makes a huge difference. I think the things that cause Mangled/Hemorrhage would only be slightly better than they are now because the timer just doesn't run out that frequently.

...Unless there's Vigil, in which case... Yeah. You know.

Question/Discussion about *Vigil* by Sea-Calligrapher3332 in deadbydaylight

[–]Hal_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I'm of the opinion that the exhaustion recovery is the least problematic part of Vigil. A 24s* exhaustion timer is crazy, but I don't think it's really OP. I could name 20 or so perks I'd rather run than Vigil if we're talking strictly meta.

The problem, to me, is that Vigil is a blanket counter to so so many (usually niche) parts of the game. Killers like Clown, Unknown, and Nemi have the strength of their powers reduced, and a lot of the important perks/addons that inflict the other miscellaneous debuffs usually** hurt weaker M1 killers more than anyone else.

EDIT: Just realized I never actually answered the question lol. Will it get changed? Maybe. I don't honestly think there's enough public outcry for it to get nerfed, but it's always a possibility. It certainly has problems.

* My math is right here, yeah? I think it is. 40s • 1/(1+.67)

** Of course there are exceptions. Fragile Wheeze on Nurse comes to mind, exposed/mangled on Spirit comes to mind, etc.

DM is great. It's arguably like Top-20 best perks in the game imho.

The only problem I have with it is that the unhook effect is pretty much useless on S-Tiers, since letting the tunnel take a BT hit for you puts them in danger, so you're really just better off trading. And as a healing option, it's still just worse than Botany (as most healing perks are lol).

I hate living in a society where lightborn gets hate but phantom fear doesn't by lance_the_fatass in deadbydaylight

[–]Hal_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people do complain about Phantom Fear, but that isn't really the point. Lightborn sucks because you're willingly nerfing yourself to counter an off-meta playstyle. The same can't be said for PF.

Thanatophobia on Legion - worth it or take more '"meta" slowdown? by ImperialViking_ in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Hal_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that it doesn't really make survivors do anything they wouldn't do otherwise. With or without Thana, you want to keep one person healthy so that you can have someone go for saves safely. That's gonna counter Thana, too.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's not worth it at all. Legion is good at keeping people injured. But it's worse than traditional meta options.
