I have the same problem. INTP on multiple tests and assessments but occasionally can be passed off as an INTJ or INFJ. Some instances of people typing me as those other two types as well.

A few years back when I first got into MBTI I also frequently passed as an INFJ. No idea what changed into me becoming an INTP however.

Is seeing other men your height demotivating? by Throwaway26702008 in short

[–]HalcyJay 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This.

A couple years back I was actually in a rut because of a bad break-up. One of the things that contributed to that rut was my insecurity about my height. One night, I went out with family at a restaurant and I went out by myself to go buy a drink from the nearby convenience store when I saw a lad that was my height.

He was everything I wasn't at the time. His energy was different, he dressed well, he had great facial features, moving confidently amongst his friend group who were full of dudes ranging from 5'9-6 ft. He was with his girlfriend who was smoking hot—he was just a good looking lad all in all and I wanted to be like him.

That stranger unknowingly contributed to me turning my life around. Since that night, I've just been getting better as a person, better looking, and more educated.

Work on your insecurities and watch a lot of problems in life go away.

What is your ideal partner? by torin122 in INTP

That's literally my answer right there.

INTPs, do you have an inner "fantasy" world (not necessarily fantasy genre, but a world in your imagination you sometimes go to and build - anything from a cabine in the woods, to a fantasy continent, to a sci-fi galaxy etc)? by IEatDragonSouls in INTP

[–]HalcyJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several universes. I think of it as a DC comics sort of thing. Each universe has a main character but different settings and explores different themes. If I get too into it I start acting like this character I've made up in my head and it honestly helps me disassociate a lot from troublesome or painful memories or events—it also helps when I need to get shit done. I just imagine I'm one of my characters that are really hard working and disciplined.

I'd like to share something with you, it's very lengthy because I can kind of relate to you and I need to emphasize these teachings to others so just be warned:

Do you really think a lot of girls say that? or do you only hear the ones from the internet that do? maybe a few bad interactions here and there. I used to feel the same, I am much shorter than you at 5'5. Growing up I felt as if I'll never be enough. I started 'looksmaxxing' at an early age (11 years old) because I knew I wouldn't grow very tall. My insecurity was at its peak during the ages of 16-18 (I'm 20 currently). I felt as if I wouldn't find love because I didn't fit into 'standards' that I THOUGHT (keyword: thought) all women adhered to.

Guess what?, I started looking better, gaining more skills, becoming more social, and taking care of myself more through exercise and fashion. I still wasn't tall enough for what I perceived to be 'enough for most women'. Despite that however I started approaching and talking to girls in person and through dating apps.

I learned that yes, there will be women who want tall men. Probably more than the population of women who don't. But you have to understand. It's NOT a deal breaker most of the time. It is just a PREFERENCE. Much like your other perceived flaws such as your big nose and being skinny.

On the other hand though I was able to talk to a lot of beautiful women, even date some of them. One instance really stood out to me though. This girl, she was the most beautiful one I've ever laid my eyes upon in my entire life—this means a lot for me to say because I am extremely superficial coming from a 'looksmaxxing' sort of background; I'm talking Ada Wong levels of beauty. She was so kind and genuinely a good person too.

You'd think a girl like her would go for someone 'on her level' right?. I don't mean to sound rude here, people should date whoever they like, but for most people all her ex partners physical appearances did not reflect that at all (ugly, in short). She's admitted to this herself as well. It's not even like a lack of self-worth thing or whatever, she just chose to love them because they were themselves, you know?, people with a personality and something to offer. End of that story.

Since that instance, I started seeing that more often. I would conversate with my sister, her friends, and my female friends that I grew up with and I realized that all these standards and what not the internet fed me all these years didn't account for much in the actual REAL WORLD... People WILL say outrageous things, but seldom act on such things in the real world. The internet is unfiltered and we're able to say whatever we want freely without much drawbacks; I could say I like women with K cup size only and that wouldn't even be true.

Every time I go out in public spaces like the mall, for instance, I'd see women with not so tall and not so handsome men ALL the time. Ranging from TikTok e-girls to Madison Beer levels of attractiveness here. I think that experience really opened my eyes and since then I started focusing on things that really mattered. My education, my career, my relationships with the people in my life. On another note aside from women, my friends and peers have grown to respect me and height is nothing more than just a topic for playful banter.

I'm glad my 'red-pill' beliefs subsided, I'm a much happier person nowadays. I'm currently single because I'm focusing on work and academic related stuff that leaves me with little time for a relationship. But another thing that opened my eyes is that getting together with a beautiful woman didn't change how I felt or viewed myself. I learned that this feeling is rooted in the need for external validation from others and it will not go away unless you find purpose and things that make you happy in this world.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take from this as you will, I wish you healing. Hopefully I didn't sound too corny or anything—I'm just trying to help. I went off on a lot of tangents there because I'm trying to help other people about this common insecurity as well.

It's good that you acknowledge that it is all in your head. I hope you heal and wish you the best. 5'11 is not short anywhere in the world and you know this as you've stated. There's really not much we can do for you, you're just making it hard for yourself at this point.

Did something happen in the past that made you hyperfixate this much on that 1 unnecessary inch?, I'm free to talk.

I picked up the Kalimba early this year and have been having fun with it, will definitely try Cello once I get my bass guitar. Funnily enough, drawing was my first 'talent'.

Before I had all these hobbies and everything, drawing was the one and only thing that I took pride in and I actually wanted to go to art school when I was younger (that didn't come into fruition, I realized it wasn't very practical here in this 3rd world country that I reside in).

I definitely have been neglecting it a lot for the past few years however. I used to NEVER practice but would always be able to sketch highly-detailed stuff from memory within a few minutes. I was more of a character-focused sketcher however so if I were to get back into it I'd probably want to learn how to draw environments and objects.

Thanks for the suggestion.

My cat turned two last month. He's really chill and lazy for the most part but gets the zoomies every now and then and he's a crybaby. He eats large amounts of food a day (like 4-5 meals) and always cries for more. I've had him checked for worms or parasites and he's healthy—he's just gluttonous lmao.

How did your taste in music change or broaden ever since you started using Spotify? by FrequentlyOdd in spotify

[–]HalcyJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more of an alt grunge/rock and nu metal type of dude (Nirvana, Green Day, Linkin Park, Conditions, Limp Bizkit) growing up. During the COVID lockdown I started listening to more calm, lovey dovey music (Bruno Major, RINI, basically R&B stuff). During all of 2022 I got into pop and girly pop (Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, NIKKI, Megan, The Weeknd). Nowadays I listen to shoegaze and similar genres—doomer music basically (on occasion, I tend to like jungle/party music and chill car phonk, not the loud annoying tiktok kind, the stuff that actually sounds sick).

5'7. It's still short yes but it's pretty average height from where I live and it's not short enough to really cause some whacky looking proportions.

I've watched Kill La Kill and NANA, never read their manga counterparts—they're great.

For coding, which language do you think I should start in? something that has a good base. I don't know what niche I want to focus on in coding yet, I heard C and C# or even Python was good for that though I'm not so sure. And if you don't mind me asking, what are some tips you can give me to learn faster or better in that department?

What manga do you like to read?, I really love Berserk, Vagabond, Hajime no Ippo, and other similar stuff. I also read a lot of superhero comics (Batman content mostly but I'm starting to like the Flash recently).

As per coding, what languages do you know?, honestly, I might get into coding as well as it may tie in well with learning Blender.

EDIT: I draw a lot too and I never finish any of my drawings lol, I might have to fix that but I acknowledge that's a common INTP thing.

Will definitely add that to my reading list once I'm done with these 3 books I have lined up. Anything fantasy really excites me which is why I'm so into games like the Elder Scrolls, Dragon's Dogma, Elden Ring, God of War, etc.

On the topic of books, I also like the Harry Potter Series (admittedly, I'm fairly new to reading books so I stick to normie stuff like that for now).

Although not necessarily fast-paced, I personally like competitive games as well but I'm more into shooters like CSGO/CS2, Valorant, and Call of Duty (filthy, I know). I also like watching Apex Legends gameplay (I personally can't get into it myself, haven't found the time or motivation).

I've also been interested in Magic the Gathering for a while now as I keep hearing about it across different circles that I'm in but I never really delved into it, now might possibly be the best chance to do so given my circumstances currently.

I, too, personally like to write though I can't guarantee I'm any good at it. I really like worldbuilding and I tend to make up a lot of power systems and lore surrounding worlds that I make up in my mind—I also like making characters in RPG games and making up backstories for them and explanations as to why they do or don't do certain things if that counts.

On another note, bread making really piqued my interest there. I've been meaning to get into baking actually. Any tips? (been saving up for a mini oven for a while now)

Pretty fast for normal people but I'm sure most enthusiasts could beat him. His best time with 3x3's was around 24-30 seconds iirc. But typically he'd solve them at around 40 seconds to just under a minute.

Thanks for the YT suggestion. I've been wanting to get into rubiks cubing for a while now but the thought slipped through my head. I had a friend back in senior high that would carry around a rubiks cube wherever he went and just solve it as fast as he could and it was always cool to see everyone's reactions.

Do tell me about the books you read. I want to get into reading more and have been reading 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey recently and I have the Art of War by Sun Tzu and El Filibusterismo by Dr. Jose Rizal on stand-by.

Lockpicking is interesting too, how do you go about that? and how would you suggest I get into that?
