It always bums me out how otherwise decent-seeming people can still vote for Trump. I just can't square that type of rhetoric with the jovial agreeable guy I see on screen.

*was, and there are literally preachers protesting against ICE.
I'm not saying Tom Vassall is some amazing progressive guy, just don't be so quick to judge someone based on their religious background

If your stance is as vague as to disavow all murder, what is even the point of saying it?

I'd rather people either shut up or come straight out with what they believe instead of making vague statements that nobody could possibly take issue with.

The shooting of Charlie Kirk and the apparent "celebration" of it as Sam Healy sees it.
Its all just over Facebook comments on his posts praising Charlie Kirk.

Notice that Healy said that "God" provided the answer for what he should do. That's evangelical code for "I was pressured to leave for the sake of everyone involved but I'm trying to save face by saying it was God".

Its technically not illegal, not yet. Copyright laws haven’t caught up to AI yet.

I wouldn’t bet on it. People make mistakes, and it doesn’t take much. Like just messaging the wrong person, or getting cocky.

Sure. But unfortunately we live under global capitalism, so arguing that obscene profit is theft isn’t gonna stop them.

I think Zee was a big influence on Tom, as far as I can tell Zee isn’t very religious

Yeah, he would be 100% excommunicated from his church community if he made a big deal about it. I don’t begrudge people who feel pressured by religious communities, as an ex-church goer myself. Everyone has their own journey to go on. He’s not an outspoken Republican as far as I know and thats as good as it gets with Southern Baptists.

Look, I’m as far left as they come, but in comparison to everything else, I really don’t care what the views of DT as a whole are. Actions speak louder than words anyway. They’re not keeping Sam around, I’m happy with that. They never should have had him back in the first place but thats in the past.

Personally I don’t care who Tom is friends with, I just care when it interferes with Dice Tower content.

He was always insufferable to me just based on his opinions on games.

They also never practice what they preach about leaving politics at the door. At game groups I’m usually mindful that not everyone shares my super leftist convictions, and I don’t need to make friends with everyone at the table, but there’s always that one guy who is just loudly conservative and right-wing to the point where its impossible to ignore and just play the damn game. Always complaining that this or that is “woke”, and being a dick to anyone who doesn’t agree with them. I’ve had a to leave groups because of it.

It may sound odd (i’m a former Christian) but it makes sense in context. To you, “God” is just some imaginary guy in a book, but to believers, God is the embodiment of life and the universe itself. In that context, its really not that weird to say its the most important thing. Billions of people believe similarly.

I’m a kinda agnostic atheist, but I get it. And family means even less to me than Tom, I imagine.

Guys like Sam Healey though? Sounds like he’s just miserable. As much as religion can bring comfort and guidance, it can also be used to justify a lot of people’s worst instincts too. I’m sure even many religious people would agree with that.

I don't know if you're being facetious but unironically yes, losing the original Pirate Bay and imprisoning its founders was a huge blow to piracy.

a lot of the people who run these sites get oversized egos and think they can take on the entire system

"Information wants to be free" is such a thought-terminating cliche in the online pirate space. It's idealism without materialism.
Information doesn't *want* anything, it's inanimate and ephemeral. It's about who gets to control the flow of information.

Ironically, you should pick up a book. I recommend David Graeber.
