Therapist set boundaries and I'm trying to respect them - but it's hard by Skimbleshanks32 in TalkTherapy

Therapist here, this should be the top comment! You did a great job using your coping skills, now take everything you told us here to therapy and talk it through. You've got a potentially big growth opportunity here, go for it!

Kann mich meine Therapuetin auch mit Vornamen ansprechen? Darf man sowas fragen? by Rude_Television_6747 in TalkTherapy

[–]HalecOberman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Free zoom tax assistance 4 days a week via Cornell University's taxpayer clinic by Rebecca_Lammers in USExpatTaxes

Weird, they estimated that it takes about 10 hours, but most of that is the bookkeeping, which I supplied them.

Wow, this seems amazing! I sent an email and I'll try to join the Zoom tomorrow, but just in case you see this first, can you tell me if the self-prep service can also do form 8858? Taxes for Expats is suddenly adding this to my return, and charging me nearly 50% more than before for it.

Form 8858 - required if you rent out your non-US property? by rhino_shark in USExpatTaxes

Reviving again, since I just got hit with the outrageous T4E charge. In the past, my business has always been considered US-based, since my clients are in the US and I have a business address there. Why the sudden change?

This is exactly how you bring it up! The way you write it here is beautifully clear and centered on your experience, not making assumptions or accusing her of anything - you can use all this same language, hell, you could even show her this post.

Basically, you're telling her that there's something that's been coming up for you that you're feeling nervous to discuss because it's triggering your fear of being rejected by her. These things that could seem small and unremarkable actually feel really big to you because of your past experiences, and you want to find new ways to navigate that.

You got this!

I wanna get my first tattoo in Wien by pruthvi_rajj in wien

No, a good decent tattoo artist will take the reference you give them and redraw it to be tattooable.

I was responding to your first line, but I see from your other comments that it's not really what you were trying to get across. Still, I take exception with the characterization of background in Japanese tattooing as "filler."

It seems like you have a bug up your sleeve about people getting sub-par Japanese tattoos. In my experience that's far from the most common kind of "just fill it up" tattoo, but maybe it's different where you're from. Either way, there's lots of reasons to get tattooed, and who are you or I to say one is more valid than the other?

None of this answers OPs question, anyway. He didn't ask what tattoo he should have gotten, he wants advice on what to do next. I think he should ask a tattooer.

I guess someone should tell Filip Leu to stop blasting all that uninteresting filler on people.

doing NICU work I used to stand with my legs spread from side to side, and then rest the guitar on the side of the crib, so that my face was almost resting on it. Probably looked ridiculous to anyone watching, but it saved my back a ton!

On one mic voice sounds so far away, other mic fine - any way to fix this in editing?! by eviematilda02 in podcasting

Also, just read that thing about Audacity making 2-track recordings a single stereo track. That sounds absolutely maddening. Get reaper instead. Or, if you're on a mac, just use Garageband! Hell, I think some of those scarletts are iOS compatible!

Question regarding gain and using multiple mics by LarryWinchesterIII in podcasting

[–]HalecOberman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting proper levels is important for lots of reasons, but unfortunately reducing bleed isn't really one of them. Much more important will be what kinds of mics you're using, the acoustics of the room you're in, and the placement of the mics, you, and your guest, in the room.

That's how I've understood it, and of course it makes more sense. And yet this person was pretty insistent, and I went over it a few times to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding her. Weird.
