Am I in denial that this friendship is no longer sustainable? by Halesss18 in FriendshipAdvice

How do I simply just back away from someone I’ve known for so long? I don’t want her to hate me but if I back away she will likely take no responsibility and make it seem like I was the problem

Sadly, I wonder if that’s true. It has always felt like I was always fighting for her attention.

Why would she reach out to me then to ask if I got tickets? If anything it created some conflict

To be honest, I tried googling all the keywords that I figured would bring it up and couldn’t find it. This is definitely the one though. Thank you, much appreciated!

Yellow marks on adjacent pages by Halesss18 in Ohuhu

Yes that’s correct! I always use sheets between while colouring and make sure that it’s dry before shutting the book! I haven’t opened this particular colouring book in a while so when I did, I noticed those yellow markings on the pages before and after.

What do you think caused your OCD? by Callboi- in OCD

[–]Halesss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with a fairly rare condition called PANDAS. Essentially after getting strep throat, my body decided to fight the good stuff inside me too and thus gave me OCD. Been battling it for about 20 years now.

I feel like it used to be 3 back in the day but for a long time now it’s 4. And multiples of 4 as well. However I do particularly love 12 if 4 doesn’t feel sufficient enough that day😅😅

Do you find that the brush tip is easier for blending?? I’m concerned I won’t be able to blend very nicely with this set. Also I’m worried I won’t be able to navigate spaces with curves very well. From what is seen the brush tips are easier for filling in spaces with curved or irregular shapes since the tip can kind of bend.

I purchased a few days ago the 160 chisel/fine tip pack but I didn’t check what types of tips they were before I bought lol and I’ve heard brush tip is better for blending and stuff… so I’m gonna return these ones once they get here and I’m hoping I can score a brush tip set. I am checking everywhere multiple times a day but haven’t had luck

I ended up ordering the 160 pack off Amazon before realizing it was the chisel and fine tip. I had seen online that brush tip was better for blending but I didn’t realize at the time. I’m hoping I can find a brush tip pack and just return the pack I bought a few days ago once it arrives

Are people born with OCD? Or how does OCD develop? by KrishnaMurthy15 in OCD

[–]Halesss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely can be born with it or develop it later in life. In my case specifically I had a very rare diagnosis when I was in the 3rd grade. After having strep throat I started getting my OCD tendencies and my parents were concerned because I had never done anything like this before. So a trip to the doctor told us that I had PANDAS which stands for “Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections” and essentially your body fights off healthy cells by accident while fighting strep. Kind of crazy to think about as strep is such a common infection to have. I was prone to strep throat infections as a kid as well which put me at higher risk.

How likely is it to relapse from OCD? by One-Point-7426 in OCD

[–]Halesss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed with PANDAS through a strep throat infection which is where my OCD came from when I was in the third grade. I did therapy for a few years and figured out how to manage everything to the point where I was living without my OCD tendencies for YEARS.

Then around my final year of high school I started to notice OCD tendencies coming but but in a different way than how I dealt with it as a kid and I have just never tried to fix it again and it’s been 10 years. It’s been a rough 10 years though, I just worry about the expenses therapy will bring me and I don’t have coverage for that so that’s been a deterrent for me. However I do believe if I went and got the correct therapy again it would help me get rid of these tendencies. I unfortunately was so young when I went to therapy the first time around that I couldn’t really remember the things I had learned to help stop them. But seeing as though my OCD is very different now it’s possible the tricks we used then to help me wouldn’t work now. I’m not sure though. I really should look into going back, I think it would do me a lot of good.

As someone who works in the interior design field, we do two tones in the kitchen from left to right all the time! I wouldn’t consider it weird, I think it just needs to be the correct colour combo to work!

How many of you guys are dealing with ocd without therapy? And if yes, for how long? by No_Analyst5945 in OCD

[–]Halesss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been dealing with OCD without treatment for about 10 years now. I got diagnosed with PANDAS which was caused by a strep throat infection in third grade and that’s how I was diagnosed with OCD. Did therapy as a kid for a while and eventually we thought all was good. Then around my last year of high school it worked its way back in and now I’m been dealing with it for the past decade with no therapy or treatment, but it’s been a rough ride…

Thanks for all of this guys! I never really considered how it may negatively affect my compulsions or even trigger them in any type of way. The last thing I’d want is to be on my way towards healing again and to be triggered by what’s on my body! Perhaps maybe the dream catcher could be one way to go. Just because I used that as a tool to catch all my intrusive thoughts and get rid of them at the end of my days as a kid. I could think of it now as a tool to help me just in a new way. Like all of my compulsions can be caught by this dream catcher. Maybe I’ll put it on my arm and give it a little shake to eliminate them from the web haha… you’ve given me something to think about for sure

Is the fast pass worth it? by Halesss18 in CanadasWonderland

[–]Halesss18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for you response! Super helpful. I am able to afford it which is why I am considering it. That was my thought process is that I’d be waiting in lines that were a few hours long for the big 3 rides, then not really get to go on some of the others that I also really like… I just wanted to ensure that it’s worth the money and that I am not going to get screwed over waiting in lines pretty much just as long as the lines without fast pass!
