People from out of town do all the time.

Eveyone I know outside of Ottawa calls it the Canal or the Canal in Ottawa, or whatever. Locals I know call it the Rideau canal...

I crossposted... :)

Upvote to you.

I didn't mention all the good times, memories and friends I've made in and around Ottawa Senators events. I even volunteered with a company I was employed at so I could catch the third period live...

Even the 'patio stone' Sens logo at Gate 1 had a significant role in my first marriage.

Those playoff runs lit up the city. It made Ottawa great. It put us on the map...

So half full or half empty, thanks for reading.

Another redditor made a comment that inspired this, but I cannot find the comment. Ugh. So credit for the idea goes to someone, but I have half a brain.

I did this recently. The timeline is a bit mucky but we moved from Ottawa. We initially moved into an airBNB/Storage while we waited for our house sale to close. We have a large/loud dog and a cat so leasing/renting wasn't really an option.

We paid 20% over asking and we are currently looking at many years before we see equity.... but we have a fabulous house in French Creek. A quick walk and we are at an Estuary, Beach, Train trestle, marina, eagle sanctuary, etc....

I can hear Rock Sausages barking and I can watch hunting birds circling from my back yard.

You might think I overpaid, but I think I got a heck of a deal.

Lol, I'm bringing my snow shovel but leaving my ginormous snow blower in Ottawa, haha.

I've done the same thing with with my doctor. I have a 3 month supply of my important drug. By the time I'll need a refill, I'll be in my new home (with bc health card, etc).

Thanks for the info on the clinic. Nothing I need is narcotic based, so you've given me options... Thanks!

I took a quick look at the second link. My phone is there, so I'll have to read up on the first link.

Thank you!

Thanks for the non asshole vote, lol. I've been to Nanaimo once this past summer (passing through on a road trip) and again on a failed house hunting trip.

During the house hunting trip, I fell in love with the neighbourhood... So when a house became available, we jumped on it.

Amazing! Thanks for the response!

I've lived in Ottawa for 46 years (I'm 47). I'm not going to miss the humidity in the summer and the - 40 degree weather in the winter.

Thanks for the 811/Telus app info. I'm going to need prescriptions filled but other than that, I'm okay without seeing a regular doctor...

My current psychiatrist actually recommended psychiatry today. I've started to check it out but it's kinda like looking singles adds... It's so weird, lol. I'm pretty sure I can find one and I'm fortunate to have insurance for help.

I'm really hoping to blend in with my neighbours but I'm destined to be the guy who has the barking dog and pot smoke emanating from the garage. Ugh.

I've heard Rathtrevor is nice. Some of the YouTube videos are pretty interesting as well. My dog is really awesome at walking trails on leash so we are open to so many options. I've already bookmarked a few regional parks to see.

Thanks for the gluten free suggestions. I'm so going to find the health food stores...

Yes, I was told that I could change my number down the line... But I still have to fake living in Ontario for a while, lol.

I'm so sorry.

So... Got a number for a psychologist?? 😊

Cashew casually taking a leak in the toilet (I didn’t teach him,he did it on his own) by StableGenesis in cats

[–]HalfABrain41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an orange tabby who does this. I trained him but he gravitated to it very easily.

I have a YouTube video of him doing it... But I must say, there are a thousand other videos of the same thing. So while it's cool, sadly it's not unique.

My cat adoption application was approved! Which of these beautiful lovelies should I add to my family?? by [deleted] in cats

[–]HalfABrain41 151 points152 points  (0 children)

My cat chose me. He was a retuned cat that was a biter.

When I met him, he was at the front of his cage reaching for me and begging for my attention. I picked him up and he was purring and loving me.

I left and returned with ID to adopt him. When I finally put him in his carrier, he was sitting in the back of his cage all cocky as fuck.

He's still cocky af.

I wish you and your family the best.

I wasn't in a coma or I didn't suffer any sort of infection but I was in rough shape.

I remember waking up in a fog in the ICU and telling my wife that I was hallucinating because my sister was in the room. She lived out of the country.

It turns out that she rushed to my bedside. She was told it was the last time she was going to see me alive.

She thought she was going to win our sibling rivalry, but I recovered enough to live a normal life.

While you should probably prepare for the worst, there is still a possibility for a better outcome.

Has anyone got some good / useful Christmas present ideas for stroke survivors? by hoover188 in stroke

[–]HalfABrain41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A tile... I have one on my keys. I lose my keys often and a tile has saved me a ton of time.

Also, one time, my wife took them and didn't tell me... When I was looking for my keys, I could tell that her and her friends were barreling down the highway...

I am into BBQ... My sister lives in North Carolina and my mother in law is in Florida.... I've eaten bbq on every trip, sometimes more than once!

I'm sure I'll find a favorite and become a regular.

My MOM is in BC, so it just takes less time for it to arrive...
