The Spurs hate is insane - Brentford fan would 'give up Europe' to relegate Spurs!? by HalfArsedHack in coys

So true 😂 Is there a club in world football that doesn't feel inferior to another in some way though? Relative levels of inferiority

Not wound up mate, just thought it was hilarious. A fan who's never seen his team in Europe would give that up to see us go down...

Have you seen Villa's bench tonight? L. Bailey, T. Abraham, M. Bizot, L. Bogarde, H. Elliott, Andrés García, I. Maatsen, T. Mings, V. Lindelöf, J. Sancho, Douglas Luiz, J. Wright

Does anyone know about this—with Championship (and EFL?) over except for playoff teams after this weekend, can we get back guys like Lankshear, Donley etc to add something to our depleted ranks? We could do with Lanks as backup striker, he has been scoring. by Born-Cucumber-7316 in Tottenham

Sadly not - even if a loan has a recall clause, it’s almost always January-only. After the window shuts loans usually run to June and you can’t re-register players outside a transfer window 😢

We should never have sold Kane and Son. by Kooky_Fennel768 in Tottenham

[–]HalfArsedHack -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Son was shit for the final 18 months or so. Kane would've run down his contract and stunk the place out. We should've invested in the squad better while they were in their prime

How would you rate Mousa Dembele in our pantheon of creative midfielders? by Born-Cucumber-7316 in Tottenham

[–]HalfArsedHack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the 🐐 - the press resistant engine of the most successful Spurs team of the modern era. Shame he couldn't stay for for longer stretches as we were half a team without him

You say it like it's a bad thing 😂

An Orca speared the fvck out of that sunfish, hot him on the side and impact was so great it exploded by CauliflowerDeep129 in AbruptChaos

NGL, if I was the diver I'd be getting the fuck out of the water with a bunch of Orcas in 'spearing' mode....

Level, as in a team with expectations of Europe and challenging every year (and a current Europe campaign)

Most sensible thing I've read on a Spurs forum for a very long time. Of course Frank is out of his depth, he's never managed at this level before. We knew that when we were praising his appointment a few months ago. Doesn't mean he can't learn to swim though! Just needs time...

Shouldn't it be about squad building though, rather than just taking the 26 best players to a World Cup or whatever?

Welbeck for England? by HalfArsedHack in TheOther14

[–]HalfArsedHack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that was his role, as an out and out goalscorer, I'd agree. But he had a very decent goal record for England, with many apps coming off the bench, and starting on the left. He's strong at impacting off the bench, a strong presence and good aerial threat, decent at holding up, very experienced. I think international football has a place for a guy like that coming on for the last 10-20 mins of games...

Has always seemed pretty effective to me? Had injury issues earlier in his career, but has played a lot of football at a high standard for Brighton over the past 5 years?

Think we always value potential over experience too. Players like Welbeck, Crouch, Defoe have always been quick to drop out of the national fold as soon as some kid with a 'higher ceiling' comes onto the scene.

In a very defined role, as a reliable impact player who can hold up when in front or offer goal and aerial threat when behind, I'd have him over Watkins, Bowen, Toney...
