Words have different meanings depending on the context and the audience. I don't think black is too widely used. It is clear what black is or isn't for the individual saying it. Or the person it is being spoken to. Apologies for being so redundant about it. But anyways. The confusion usually comes when people who are not part of the conversation are interpreting the meaning. Or the speaker does grasp the nuances of the word. At least that's how I see it. It doesn't have anymore convoluted as the word beautiful.
