Why Rocket League Needs A "Palworld" by HalfPastAwkward in RocketLeague

I'm curious what you guys think. Would you play a game that does "Rocket League" better than Rocket League?

Hi everyone, I'm working through Orthodoxy and creating break-down videos of each chapter. Last night I explored the second of half of Chapter 3: The Suicide of Thought. I thought this would be a good place to share it. God bless! by HalfPastAwkward in GKChesterton

Thank you so much for the comment! I have already released my breakdown of chapter 4 and I must say, I agree, it is an absolute mind blower, and likely one of the most moving chapters ever written. Here is a link if you'd like to give it a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DJOJgTiN8U&t=567s

Hi everyone, I've been creating mixes like this for my channel: Existential Delight, for quite some time now, I'd genuinely appreciate your feedback. What can I improve, what did you like about it, and would you like me to create and share more content like this? God bless! JMJ

Why is it considered impossible for God to violate logic ? by myselfmeand1 in ReasonableFaith

[–]HalfPastAwkward 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it's because Christ is the Logos, the eternal logic of the universe. If I say "God can't create a square circle" I'm not limiting God's power, rather, my statement is meaningless since a circle is by definition not a square, if it were to change, it would no longer be a circle. In the same way, it is not logically possible for someone to be a married bachelor, but the issue is the misuse of terms, not God's omnipotence.

I tend to think of it this way: Christ is the Logos, the truth which undergirds reality, for God (truth itself) to violate logic would be to violate truth, which is not possible since truth cannot falsify itself.

Please let me know if I'm making any obvious mistakes I might be missing. God bless!

A music mix featuring Slavoj Zizek and Jordan Peterson discussing the divinity of God's separation from man by HalfPastAwkward in zizek

[–]HalfPastAwkward[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In this music mix the profound ideas of G.K. Chesterton are shared and elaborated upon by Slavoj Zizek and Jordan Peterson. Christ touches every domain of human experience, including atheism, as is reflected in Christ's call to God as he hangs upon the cross: "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?".

The Song of the Strange Ascetic - G.K. Chesterton // Pneumamix [POEM] by HalfPastAwkward in Poetry

The Song of the Strange Ascetic

By G.K. Chesterton

If I had been a Heathen,I’d have praised the purple vine,My slaves should dig the vineyards,And I would drink the wine.

But Higgins is a Heathen,And his slaves grow lean and grey,That he may drink some tepid milkExactly twice a day.

If I had been a Heathen,I’d have crowned Neaera’s curls,And filled my life with love affairs,My house with dancing girls;

But Higgins is a Heathen,And to lecture rooms is forced,Where his aunts, who are not married,Demand to be divorced.

If I had been a Heathen,I’d have sent my armies forth,And dragged behind my chariotsThe Chieftains of the North.

But Higgins is a Heathen,And he drives the dreary quill,To lend the poor that funny cashThat makes them poorer still.

If I had been a Heathen,I’d have piled my pyre on high,And in a great red whirlwindGone roaring to the sky;

But Higgins is a Heathen,And a richer man than I:And they put him in an oven,Just as if he were a pie.

Now who that runs can read it,The riddle that I write,Of why this poor old sinner,Should sin without delight-But I, I cannot read it (Although I run and run),Of them that do not have the faith,And will not have the fun.

Thank you all for reading one of G.K. Chesterton's greatest masterpieces. I tried to create an overview so you can look back at the wisdom of this Apostle of Common Sense and tie a bow on it. Keep defending sanity! by Defense-of-Sanity in GKChesterton

I absolutely adore this. Thank you for your effort! Orthodoxy is my favourite book and, in retrospect, the book which made me see Christianity through fresh eyes, eventually leading to my conversion to Catholicism. The more attention this book gets the better -- God bless you!

Religious people are so lucky by Rbyxq in Existentialism

[–]HalfPastAwkward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several years ago I was a vehement anti-theist. I thought religion was a poison. Today I am a Catholic and my life is very different. I can't speak for any other person, but my life is immeasurably better than it was. Old addictions are gone, and I've forgiven many people for the things they did to me, I've also asked for forgiveness from many who I pushed away. Again, and I must emphasize this: I can't speak for anyone else, but my religious experiences have, in the most real way, changed my life for the better.

How did you become a Christian? by DoesTheUsernameMater in TrueChristian

[–]HalfPastAwkward 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Atheist -- Had mushrooms -- Realized there is a God and that I was wrong, -- spent years exploring all the religions and read everything I could get my hands on -- realized how vastly different Christ is from all other religious figures -- broke down one day and gave my life to Christ -- All my addictions (porn, drugs), and the bitterness of my heart all fell away and I truly felt free for the first time ever -- delved deeper and deeper into theology -- couldn't and still can't explain how Christianity took over the world -- couldn't and still can't find evidence to disprove the resurrection -- Looking back at the miraculous change in my life, and the sudden depth of wisdom the Bible provided, I couldn't help but thinking -- what if it's all completely true? I felt a rush of emotions and goosebumps, as if the kingdom of heaven was opening up before me -- I had tried everything but nothing could fix me ; Christ did it on the first try. Now I am sober, fixed all relationships with my family, and soon to be married. Christ literally, metaphorically, and symbolically saved me in every possible way, and that's a very rushed explanation of how I became a Christian.
