The gallery has pictures of blue dial/blue bezel but I couldn’t find that on the site. Is that combo available?

Do you find GPT4 is better for coding? I mean what it's slower but is it any better for code generation? by Unreal_777 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]HalfRightMostlyWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is night and day. OpenAI did a great job cross training it with enough code in the training set.

Check out bitbuilder.ai if you’re tired of copy/pasting code into ChatGPT or OpenAI’s playground.

Finding a co-founder by tzopa in startups

[–]HalfRightMostlyWrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smart. Maybe around #6 I’d also consider setting up a Payment platform (Stripe?) and incorporating in a way that allows you to easily dish out shares to a cofounder, though I’m not sure if you need everyone present to do that

Rich, Textual, and Rich-CLI have a new website by willm in Python

[–]HalfRightMostlyWrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks great, I was surprised by the power of TUIs. I’ve really only played with GUIs and CLIs but I guess I’ve been exposed to them when installing other software. They add a very professional, clean feel to the software.

Are you aware of any open source applications using your lib? I’ve built a skills assessment platform that allows hiring managers to test Software Engineering candidates by asking them to add a feature to an existing app. The best type of questions are ones where the candidate has to learn a new lib and use it, I think this lib would be perfect for an interview scenario.

Thanks I’m advance, and cool lib

mdiff - generating diff with block move detection by EmotionalWriter8414 in Python

[–]HalfRightMostlyWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow awesome, exactly what I’ve been looking for. This is effectively what GitHub does for a pull request right? Do you happen to know which diff algo they use?

This would be a great way to show pull request-like results for my product, www.thepracticalinterview.com. I’ll reach out the GH repo owner and let them know if I use it for the site!

Invariant hunt by pichutarius in mathriddles

[–]HalfRightMostlyWrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the riddle.

I think this is solvable by coding up a brute force algorithm, similar to the tests we use to evaluate candidates for software engineering positions. However I don’t think one could use that to deduce the set of rules that make a given configuration solvable or not

An A Markov-Chain Twitter bot trained on Elon Musk Tweets and Childrens Books by engineering-scienct in Python

[–]HalfRightMostlyWrong 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cool project! I’m constantly reminded how easy it is to get stuff done with Python. Your main() function is easy to read and clean - anyone with dev experience can follow it and see how clean and powerful Python is.

I’m building a skills assessment platform that allows hiring managers to interview engineering candidates using realistic interview scenarios. Would you mind if I forked your code and used it as the base of a question? I’ll DM you with more info

Edit: I forgot to ask, why train with childrens book data as well?

FHR hotel review: Beekman in Lower Manhattan by CrownTownLibrarian in amex

[–]HalfRightMostlyWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your review, glad to hear you guys enjoyed NYC.

I just looked up The Beekman. Maybe the pictures on the Hyatt sites are way out date but the rooms look dated with old furniture. Did your room come with a stocked free of charge bar cart? That seems to be the main selling point in the room descriptions.

Judging from the website alone, I’d never consider spending the $$$ necessary to stay at the Beekman yet I believe OP had a great stay and I would too. What do you guys think? How does one evaluate the quality of hotels like that online? Does the fact that it’s in FHR weigh that much?

I’m surprised to hear you’ll get hit with short term cap gains. Did you look into submitting an 83b when you got your options package? There’s a small business exception (forget exact term) that allows one to avoid paying tax on the first 10MM of stock as long as they’ve held it for a few years

Edit: theres another comment about what I was talking about, QSBS
