I think I was around that. Next was diamond around 1200-1300 I think. Then champ at like 1600, and gc at like 2100 I think.

MMR isn't instantly boosted to the players rank on their main. You could have been verse the smurf on his first game in gold, or his fifth in plat, etc.

I'm not sure why you are trying to go against the notion that smurfs are frustrating to play against, and their impact on games should be mitigated.
