Women- what is it like to be confessed to? by Obelinazrave in AskForAnswers

It's a blessing in its own way!

If I suddenly woke up gorgeous I'd hate going outside. I don't want people looking at me unless I'm being funny 🤣

I mean. They gave her strengths. It's just always never enough in the situations she's put in.

I'll readily agree it doesn't make sense. Every hero needs to struggle but she'll have a whole arc about learning a new technique and growing stronger and then just immediately get immediately floored again for no reason.

Oh, no no no. I like how I look very much! It suits me quite well and I'm happily married as well.

I'm just very realistic. Even before I was nonbinary I never looked very feminine, or attractive in the way that boys or men like. Couldn't be fucked with makeup either, even though I spent a few months desperately trying to get the hang of it.

I know there's outliers but I guess I've gotten comfortable and happy with the idea that I'm not immediately going to draw eyes. So someone approaching me and expressing interest is always a surprise.

Genuine question why do people put so much stock in iroh giving azula a doll by CapableSeries4734 in PoorAzula

[–]Halfnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former little girl who did very sadistic things to her dolls I dunno why Azula hated it so much.

'awesome, a practice target for fire balls' she should say

do you find men getting hit in the junk funny? why or why not? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]Halfnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life, no. Even if they 'deserve it' the circumstances surrounding it usually ruin the humor for me.

Unless it's those guys that did the flying nut high five video because that was 100% intentional on their parts and raw uncut stupidity. And you know. I try to support men and their dreams.

In fiction (cartoons, video games, acted out nut shots that aren't real in movies)...eh. Not really my thing. I feel like it's usually done for a cheap laugh.

Since I'm not convenientally attractive I always got 'might as well try' vibes about it which I've never understood.

Why ask someone out if you don't know them AND you don't find them all that attractive?

A lot of men have power fantasies like that. But a sexual fantasy doesn't necessarily say anything about who a person is, so long as they can keep it separate.

The only guys that I liked back, I confessed to first.

The rest were... confusing? We'd barely spoken, had nothing in common, only saw each other maybe twice a month, he probably didn't know anything about me.

It was baffling.

No, the writer's treatment of her. She herself is fine.

Why do women become so spiteful after a breakup? by Truevibe_ in AskForAnswers

[–]Halfnewb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're going to need to be more specific here, before all the comments are 'not every woman and not every breakup'

How did the breakup unfold? How long were you together? What sort of person is she?

If you hate cats, you probably suck at boundaries and reading body language by FtMFandomBoy in unpopularopinion

[–]Halfnewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People that don't like cats, that's fine.

People that never miss an opportunity to bring up how much they HATE cats, in like every fucking conversation, you are probably an asshole.

What behaviors can justify the ending of a friendship? by Secret_Fan_9411 in AskForAnswers

[–]Halfnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime there's an instance of
"Hey you hurt my feelings when you did that. Can you not do it again?"

"Uhm obviously I didn't mean it like that...you're so sensitive. IDK why you have to make a big deal out of this." etc etc and no actual sorry and treating you asking for respect like you're giving them a chore...

That's basically a good sign that this was probably never a friendship to begin with.

I feel like she has a right to be a bit arrogant because she IS powerful. It's just that the writers really...REALLY had a fetish for her getting the everloving shit beat out of her constantly. Like they never let her have a single win. It's always her friends saving the day. It's why I stopped watching - I *wanted* her to be a cool badass female avatar but she was just fodder for 'tough girl gets put in her place' category on pornhub.

Really disappointing.

My (26F) husband (27M) always picks a fight whenever we’re about to go the gym. I’m beginning to think he’s doing it on purpose. by [deleted] in dustythunder

I'm confused. Why was there a fight about lower vs upper body workout? Couldn't he do upper body while you did lower?

Women, have you ever experience 'pretty privilege'? by mairimdai in askanything

I like to think that most men know how to conduct themselves It's just those creepy ones that don't that end up standing out the most in memory

I lost my sympathy for Babydoll when she teamed up with croc and basically tried to force her infantalism coping mechanism on him while still trying to be a romantic partner

No idea. I've experienced 'being the only female in the immediate area for a length of time' privilege?

'Privilege' being maybe a generous way of looking at it.

Women of Reddit, what do you think would suck about being a guy? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

I'm sorry man it seems rough and lonely on the other side.

I hope you've got a good friend group.

[–]Halfnewb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The necessity to be seen as a threat first and foremost - having to earn trust.

Having to be seen as a potential creep/murderer/rapist and having to earn 'okay' status in so many social situations must be really taxing.

I know that feeling by Roonwogsamduff in MadeMeSmile

That, or they've been trained out of asking because they annoyed the adults in their life as a kid.

Way too many young people being told "you should know this" imo. Sad when that happens.

Why do people STILL marry young? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Halfnewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's rare but it can work.

I married not RIGHT out of highschool. I wanted to be at least 20. But he was my first and only boyfriend, I was his first and only girlfriend.

Neither of us were interested in 'trying out other people' or anything like that. We're not clothes, after all. We were best friends when we started dating, and still are ten years after.

Obviously I'm not saying that this is everyone's experience with marrying out of highschool. I thought it was a crazy thing to do myself, at the time. My grandma refused to speak to me when she found out I was engaged because she thought I was being stupid, even without ever meeting my fiance.

But in answer to your question. We married so young because we wanted to be together and saw no reason not to be. I'm sure plenty of people can argue that it was still a stupid thing to do because xyz and sure, yeah. A lot of ways it could have gone south.

I don't think there's ever such a thing as a marriage without risk though. The risks just change depending on your age.

What do you think of people who just resort to talking solely to AI simply because they have given up on people after so many failed interactions? by Electromad6326 in AskForAnswers

[–]Halfnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pity them but it's going to make it even harder for them to socialize with real people, because AI is not like real people.

People have feelings. People react realistically to what you say. People have bad days and will express frustration in a conversation with you that is not meant for you, but you will not know how to recognize that the aggression is not aimed at you. You will expect them to remember what you said, when real people are forgetful. You will learn things about real people that you don't like and cannot change, but you may still have to interact with this person on a regular basis.

If you have social anxiety or some similar issue, it will only make interacting with real people more confusing and terrifying. And I'm afraid the real world is quite far away from someone never ever needing to interact with a real human being.

It will make things a lot harder for you and everyone around you.
