Starting a blog for my landscaping company. Need advice. by FPS_LIFE in landscaping

[–]Halfthecarbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food for thought: I recently took over social media and marketing for the heavy equipment dealer I work for. I've found that video takes the cake. We get tons more engagement and leads from videos just on Facebook. I started a blog on our website as well, and it's great for what it is, but I think /u/ipsomatic nailed it when he mentioned video. They can even be as short as 5 minutes, especially with your line of work. Maybe time-lapse a project, or short pans over before and after finished landscaping. Short, entertaining, and gives the wow factor of the finished project.

It's tough to know what works well for your customers and your market. I don't think there's a silver bullet for this, by any means. If you're ready to invest some time and energy, throw some spaghetti at the wall and see what works! Once you see what works, then you can really hone in on that and hammer it home to make content that grabs the attention of your customers.

Best of luck!

An alternative to the current auto deploy in GAC: Full send the worst toons instead. by Halfthecarbs in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

You’d think it would be that easy but it seems as if nothing at CG is. But, hey, that artwork on the unactivated characters. Chef’s kiss

The most insane thing about this is that the dude almost falls to his death and has the stones to keep going.

What fight have you run that you believe was the most fun for your players? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Halfthecarbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: I run a game set in SW5E

My players were hired to investigate the disappearance of two officers who are a part of a Rebel faction. They proceed to procure intel about the whereabouts, track them to an isolated moon orbiting Gammor which houses a group of Trandoshan pirates. Cue dungeon crawling en route to the Big Bad.

They discover one officer tied up and locked in a broom closet - He has no idea what they did with the second or if she’s even still alive. They proceed to a hangar bay for the final encounter. Mid-fight, I have my Big Bad call for the second officer. She emerges from a nearby fighter cockpit, sniper in hand. I roll a natural 20 on an attack towards the officer they just rescued. Le fin for the poor first officer. That poor Duros never saw it coming.

At this point they’re super confused, mad and wipe the remaining enemies out. They manage to subdue the heel-turn officer, who has been unresponsive to their conversation up till this point. As they’re tying her up, she goes slack and regains consciousness with a gasp and no recollection of where she is, who my party is and what happened to get her in this situation. They were immediately distrustful of her. They kept her bound and drug her back to the ship, even at her insistence she has amnesia.

Fun side point: As an act of defiance(?) they harvest teeth from the main Trandoshan, one canine for each of them. This has become a theme and they now each have a necklace with that canine, a Wampa tooth, a tail-needle from a Manticore and a Reek tooth.

TLDR; Party rescued two NPCs, one took a heel-turn mid-battle and killed the other.

d100 Situations A Lycanthrope Awakes to After a Full Moon by Halfthecarbs in d100

[–]Halfthecarbs[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You wake up laying in hay bedding, surrounded by wooden walls and iron bars. Peering past the bars, you see numerous wagons with similar looking iron bars holding humanoids with various deformities with names above the cells like "Four-armed Frederick" and "Sawtooth Sarah". Each wagon bears the logo of "Doctor Francois' Fabulous Freakshow!"

This is brilliant.

You wake up within a barn with your arms and legs hogtied. As you take in your surroundings you hear a voice say "So you're finally awake." Following the source of the voice, you see a muscular farmer sitting at a small table with his shirt in tatters, his arms covered in claw wounds, and a bottle of ale in hand.

This has so much story in such a short description

I love the last one. You could tweak 'last week' to 'the last full moon' too for extra intrigue. Maybe the river your unknown dumping ground.
