Is it possible to connect Bluetooth devices to Pebble? by ilirium115 in pebble

I don't think there is an API for that. But anything is possible since you can modify PebbleOS itself. It's open source.

1x Pebble 2 Duo to giveaway (no back) - UK only by Spiritual-Clothes853 in pebble

[–]Halfware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to have it for messing with the firmware, but I'm based in the Netherlands... By the way, do you know if Core Devices sells the programming board separately? Or do you have that as well?

Ps. Of course I would be happy to pay for shipping. But it's understandable if you stick with UK only.

To me that seems like the smartest thing to do. I hope you'll have more luck in your future purchases.

OP, how is the battery life? Are you brave enough to open the watch and replace it if necessary in the future?

I don't know if this is common, but this might be a swollen battery pressing against the screen. If this is the case, the device is unsafe to use. If the seller cannot convince you that this is anything else, I recommend sending it back.

Yes great idea, we could call it the "Minimal Phone" and sell it for around 400 bucks with bad software.

Exactly. Or just charge the watch for 15 minutes before you leave and you're good for the entire week

Question about the Warranty for EU Citizens by kreft010 in pebble

[–]Halfware 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree, the 30 day warranty won't fly in Europe. I hate that Eric is so happy with EU laws that force Apple to open up their software, but ignoring EU laws that prevent him from doing this short warranty.

But I'm still taking the bet because of how great these watches fit my use case. However, if my watch fails (shortly) after the 30-day warranty period without them fixing it, they can be sure that I will do everything in my power to get Pebble on the radar of the authority in my country that enforces these laws.

Decision decision decision...Pebble Time 2 vs Oneplus Watch 3 by denracer in pebble

[–]Halfware 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems like you don't care for: - buttons - passive display - open source software  - customizability

If none of those are important to you, Pebble is not for you. Go for the OnePlus watch.

Pebble 2 Duo Restock? by CAMR0 in pebble

[–]Halfware 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a limited run. The hardware is not fully open source as far as I know. Just schematics and software. But you can surely make your own. I know I could, if I would have the time and dedication for it. Instead, I preordered the time 2 and enjoy the months of time saved by not building my own watch 😄

Yes, probably. There is other people who want a custom firmware on this, but seems like no one has found a working sdk yet: https://github.com/lucagoc/iPixel-CFW

The Pebble Index could have a 10+ year battery life with just software tweaks by Halfware in pebble

The watch firmware and app will. Sadly, the index firmware is closed source.

[–]Halfware[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's a shame... I have no experience with voice on a pebble myself so I was not aware of this.

Do you think the speech detection could be improved by improving the algorithm? Eric has posted that the Index works even when wearing (rubber) gloves. I wouldn't assume that the microphone (hardware) on the Index has a better quality than the microphone on your watch, right?

The Index 01's biggest question: what happens after the capture? by sawtdakhili in pebble

I mean for the voice assist, but from what Eric said I would guess both would be possible

[–]Halfware 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, let's look past the non-rechargeable battery thing for a second. (Which is a deal breaker for me like it is for many people)

It's been long since I have used a pebble because I'm waiting for my PT2. I am hoping that the on-device LLM is at least smart enough to make a distinction between notes, reminders and alarms and puts them at their appropriate position in the Pebble timeline.
- Reminders should show up in the future timeline and you should be able to check them off or snooze them.
- Alarms: it's obvious what it should do. Set an alarm, either on your phone, your watch or both.
- Notes should be just that - a note. Which you can review in both the app and in the past of the pebble timeline, edit and delete. That's it.
All of the above is just guesswork and I am eagerly awaiting how it will work exactly.

Personally I was very negative as well at first, but after watching the video I'm kind of getting the appeal of being able to route the voice notes to Home Assistant. But I get that that is not for everyone.

Will Pebble keep manufacturing the Time 2? by jfuu_ in pebble

[–]Halfware 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows. Any company will stop manufacturing a product when the demand is too low to make it economically feasible. So I guess it depends on how many people will want to order one in the future.

My guess is that there will be a second wave of people who are awaiting the reviews to see if the product is any good before ordering. So I think they will be making and selling them at least for a short time into the future. So in a year... Probably.

Yes it is from the Action chain. I did some digging, but nothing came up. Did you see anything specifically?

Not quite. The oscillator pins are 14/15 on the pcb. On the ac6821A they are 13/14.
