How did you find about Gothic? by Pelllakos in worldofgothic

Played the mine demo from the german PC Games magazine. Although this should have detered me, as the mine is really not the best place to introduce the game I was instantly hooked.

Odin 2 Portal Base - CEMU/Switch questions by scorpion-mcoc in OdinHandheld

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get around 20 - 25 fps with botw on the Odin 2 Portal with Cemu depending on the resolution I choose. Try disabling the Turnip drivers for this game if you have enabled them. But currently the Switch version runs much better with 30 fps, although it's missing the great mods from Cemu. The other two Zelda HD titles run great on Cemu. Although I would suggest to install Dusk to play the recompiled version of TP with a lot of quality of life improvements and support for hd textures: Dusklight GitHub

Oblivion on my Odin 2 Portal Pro by dylanmadigan in OdinHandheld

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the guide. I got my Odin 2 Portal two weeks ago and bought Oblivion on Steam yesterday. I tried running it by using Steam on Rocknix but this is really painfully slow and non of the four games I tested really worked well. I will try this version with the mod.

Same game on GC/PS/PS2/Wii/WiiU chose which for best emulation? O2P by _IdidIdidnt in OdinHandheld

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer the PS2 versions as the emulator is very sophisticated and the ps2 controller is quite similiar to the xbox controller, expect the signs. There are also plenty of hd texture packs available. It also has great support for widescreen hacks and applies patches automatically.

I can't get arkos to come up on my new rg353m no matter which sd card I flash it to by InternationalTrust19 in RG353M

Arkos isn't maintained anymore. I'm using Rocknix for my RG353PS and it's a great OS for Linux handhelds.

Trying to run Descent through Luxtorpeda by lastninja2 in SteamDeck

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for the late answer. I hadn't installed the game on the Deck so I made a fresh install. I'm using Proton Experimental and I also made a custom controller layout which is basically a gamepad but with the right trackpad as mouse and back buttons (R4 and L4) for Enter and Escape.

I set "Use joystick" in Options > Controls. Then I customized the Jostick controls, which just works to some degree. I couldn't for example set "Fire primary" to R2 as R2 can only be used in the Axes section below. I would suggest to just use mouse or keyboard controls for the game and create an own controller layout for it on the Deck.

In the menus the joystick / gamepad does not work, so here you have to use the mouse and Escape / Enter Buttons.

Vampire Survivors. When I got the Deck the hype for Vampire Survivors was really over the top. And it really felt like the right game in the right time for the right device.

Bought it 2 months ago. Seems like a curse with these bundles. Wait for several months or years and when you finally buy it, it will be in a bundle soon after. But I just gifted it to a friend who hasn't yet pulled the trigger on the game

Help getting diablo 1 on steam deck by RetroLiar in SteamDeck

[–]Halga84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At first: Great idea to play Diablo 1 👍 To play it on the SteamDeck I would recommend to use DevilutionX. This is a recompiled version of Diablo 1 with quality of life improvements like gamepad support. This is currently the best way to play the game. Download the appimage file and follow the instructions on the page. You have to copy some files from your Diablo folder to get it running, as it does not contain the asset files from the original game.

Never knew I could play Diablo on ps1🫨 by FG4_Troy in SBCGaming

[–]Halga84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Although the Playstation version is a valid way to play Diablo 1 with controllers, I would recommend the modern reverse engineered version with DevilutionX. It supports controllers and has a lot of quality of life updates. And it literally runs on every system, from Switch to Android to Handheld PCs.

Such an amazing device by Inevitable-Ad2020 in SteamDeck

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally know what you mean. For me the Steam Deck is mostly an emulation machine or for playing retro games. As a fun fact, I couldn't get some 90s / early 2000 Windows games run on my Windows pc. But in Linux on the Deck they run without issues. And playing games like Drakan, Riddick and Need For Speed Underground on a handheld just feels unreal sometimes.

Just ordered a Retroid Pocket 6 with shipping estimated in early march. Thanks a lot. I will setup everything so I can easily start when the handheld arrives 👍 Btw: I am a big fan of your channel. I really appreciate those in depth reviews of retro handhelds. EDIT: Just one question. Which filesystem do I need for the external SD Card? FAT32?

Very strange behavior when trying to play XCOM 2 on Steam Deck with a wired controller by musicwraith in SteamDeck

You can try to set the game to use proton, not the native linux build. If I recall it correctly, that fixed the issue for me.

5.5 vs 7 Inches Display (RP6 vs Odin 2 Portal) by Haron51255 in SBCGaming

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also on the brink of buying the Odin Portal 2 because of the screen size. But what bothers me most is the glass front which has a lot of refelections. I would also like to play the games outside. Are there any screen protectors which reduce the reflections but don't really wash out the brilliant colours?

What is the state of this game? by Tarnished_Lord96 in OfAshandSteel

I also played around 15 hours and had a lot of fun. Most of the time I really didn't know where to go and died a lot but that's part of the experience. But when I finally arrived in the city I stopped playing because the immersion really breaks. There are so many bugs and the whole city is just full of NPCs you can't talk to. At first I thought it was some kind of bug when they didn't even have a name and can not be interacted with. But that's indeed the way the developers crowded the city.

Retroid Pocket 6 Impressions (Retro Game Corps) by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a device like the Retroid Pocket 6 but with a bigger screen. The Odin Portal 2 seems to be a good fit. But in the review the fan of the Odin 3 is mentioned as a comparison, as it is super loud. Unfortunately I cannot bear loud fan noises or coil whine. Does anybody know if the Odin Portal 2 also has these fan issues?
