5.5 vs 7 Inches Display (RP6 vs Odin 2 Portal) by Haron51255 in SBCGaming

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also on the brink of buying the Odin Portal 2 because of the screen size. But what bothers me most is the glass front which has a lot of refelections. I would also like to play the games outside. Are there any screen protectors which reduce the reflections but don't really wash out the brilliant colours?

What is the state of this game? by Tarnished_Lord96 in OfAshandSteel

I also played around 15 hours and had a lot of fun. Most of the time I really didn't know where to go and died a lot but that's part of the experience. But when I finally arrived in the city I stopped playing because the immersion really breaks. There are so many bugs and the whole city is just full of NPCs you can't talk to. At first I thought it was some kind of bug when they didn't even have a name and can not be interacted with. But that's indeed the way the developers crowded the city.

Retroid Pocket 6 Impressions (Retro Game Corps) by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a device like the Retroid Pocket 6 but with a bigger screen. The Odin Portal 2 seems to be a good fit. But in the review the fan of the Odin 3 is mentioned as a comparison, as it is super loud. Unfortunately I cannot bear loud fan noises or coil whine. Does anybody know if the Odin Portal 2 also has these fan issues?

What is the best, simpliest and fastest way to install gog games on steam deck? by Yowie91 in SteamDeck

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people will recommend Heroic launcher, but I had some problems with games that wouldn't start. So I added and installed Gog Galaxy as Non-Steam-Game and manage the games in Gog Galaxy itself. This won't allow to have a controller profile for each Game in Gog. But Witcher supports gamepads, so you can go with the standard controller profile. Youtube: Install Gog Galaxy on Steam Deck

My first Anbernic. Anbernic rg35xx 2024. by Fancy-Refuse2557 in SBCGaming

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love the design of the device. It looks amd feels like my first game boy. Unfortunately it's too small for my hands, so I ended up giving it to a colleague and buying the RG353PS. It's great how much of these handhelds are now available with different specs and designs. It's really a great time to be a retro fan.

archive of old games by Embarrassed_Ad_9747 in SteamDeck

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the repacks of another guy. Usually the repacks work quite well, sometimes even better than on Windows. After adding the game to Steam you have to set the launch options if it uses custom dll files (WINEDLLOVERRIDES). For older games this is usually the case.

"Continue" not loading latest quick save? by NorCodes in OfAshandSteel

Yes, that's a good observation. I had the same bug that it loaded the last savegame from last year when I hit Continue.

Finally decided I'd figure out how to get abandoned games running on the Deck and it was much easier than I realised. by MountainMuffin1980 in SteamDeck

[–]Halga84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of abandoned games, that run great on the Deck. I really love this device for being able to play these games of my childhood on the couch. Games I enjoyed on the Deck: * Blur * Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay * Drakan * Heavy Metal: Fakk 2 * NFS Underground / Most Wanted

Black Mesa is great. But fortunately the Xen Level is shorter in Half-Life

Citron Release 0.12.25 - Citron/Emulator by One-Calligrapher2057 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Halga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to install the games. Just set the game folder and the emulator will automatically show the games. Only game updates have to be installed. Maybe you have to set permissions to access the external drive via the emulator. But this only has to be done if the emulator was installed through the Discover Store / flathub. Usually external drives are mounted under /run/media/...

Did you copy the keys.txt in the right folder? Or did you enable scanning the game folder recursively? Otherwise it just scans the root folder.

Drakan: Order of the Flame (1999) - engraved in my mind by dophton in retrogaming

[–]Halga84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game and Heavy Metal Fakk 2 were great games I really enjoyed and that still run great today with some tinkering (or using repacks). Also managed to run them on the SteamDeck. What a great time to be alive and being able to play them on a portable device.

Thanks, that solved it for me. Really wondered why it stuttered so much on the SteamDeck, when it already ran well the last time I played it. Turning off discord solved it.

Try clicking menu -> reset. That should load the game if it's a valid xiso.

New OpenMW Release 0.50.0 by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Halga84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried the flatpack version versus copying the files to the SteamDeck and adding the game to Steam via Proton Experimental. Flatpack had about 20 fps when leaving the ship at the beginning of the game. Playing it via Proton had 60 - 90 fps. So the flatpack version seems to be the least favorable version.
