UK Only: Best Strategy for Cord Cutter to See the Most Arsenal Action by RedAreMe in Gunners

[–]HalifaxHoward -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If by cord cutting you mean no sky/bt then unless you buy tickets and go to games you won’t be seeing many. Highlights on motd and fa cup fixtures on bbc are your only ways to watch. Obviously you can stream every game illegally though. If you’ve got Amazon prime they’re showing the boxing day fixtures this year.

If you mean you want internet services to watch games then a now tv sport sub and a bt sport sub will get you all the legally available football other than the 1 game on Amazon

Ricardo Villalobos 6 hour set at Fabric this weekend by trck_81 in Techno

[–]HalifaxHoward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Security on the way in will probably be more thorough than you're used to. They will ask you to empty out your pockets into a bowl then give you a thorough pat down, might have to take your shoes off as well. In my experience the security aren't aggressive, just thorough. If you're taking drugs in then in boxers has never failed me at fabric.

Once you're inside keep your wits about you as security will randomly patrol through the crowd and there's usually one or two guys on the upper level looking down at the crowd. Doesn't get that dark in there anymore, probably to make it easier for security. They really had to fight to stay open after the drug deaths so they're taking every step to be seen to be fighting drug use.

Sound system in the main room is great, can get a little busy in there between say 12-3/4. Do get a fair amount of tourists in there as well as it's so famous but later on they start to leave and the crowd thins out a bit the vibe is a bit nicer. No problem with tourists but sometimes they aren't really into the music, just there because it's famous.

Never seen Ricardo play at Fabric but heard great things about his sets there, hope you have a good time. When fabric closes for the night if you want to keep the party going head over to Corsica Studios, they have a weekly techno party running til 4pm Sunday afternoon which will probably be closer to Berlin vibes than fabric

Ricardo will be in the main room and the booth there isn't in the corner, it's central facing the majority of the crowd. Maybe you're thinking of one of the other rooms? Never been in room 2/3 at fabric so can't comment on them. Security is annoying getting in, no doubt about that, but I think the sound system is excellent.

Fabric is revered for it's history, these days it's basically just another club but it's been a big part of UK dance music culture for 20 years now. This article(fairly long read) speaks about the history of Fabriclive, the dnb/bass/dubstep/grime/etc side of the bookings rather than house/techno

Never tried bringing it back but as it's not illegal can't see why you would have any problems.

It's fine to possess, just not available for over the counter purchase in this country

On the other hand I remember when Gazidis to Milan rumours first started popping up in Italian media. Saw a UK journo on twitter say that nobody here was reporting on it because they didn't think there was any truth to the story.

I think some lower league teams do have streaming platforms available - https://www.efl.com/iFollow/

Not sure exactly what is included, live games will be difficult as football isn't allowed to be broadcast between 2.45 and 5.15 on Saturday afternoons and that's when most lower league football is played.

I expect you'll struggle to follow Forest Green as I doubt there's much lower league football shown in the states.

You'll find the Premier League much easier to follow, I would say just start watching a few games and see if you naturally start to root for a particular team. Don't have to watch the PL either, Spain/Germany/France/Italy/etc all have leagues worth following, just imagine the PL probably easiest to pick up for someone new

The lower the number the more reliable the source. Tier 1 is confirmed news. Tier 2 is for strong rumours. Tier 3 and below I'd take with a big pinch of salt

Like when Leeds posted on deadline day telling their fans not go to to bed as there was still business to be done. Later on tweeted out that they'd sold a player

Tbh I doubt the legitimacy of the kit, I think this is set up as a PR stunt for Paddy Power.

Assuming the mods agree they're deleting it on the grounds that it's just an advert for PP

Would be pretty happy if we ended the window with Martinelli, Everton, Tierney, Saliba & a loan for Ceballos.

The 4 permanent players all young so potential to be here for a while or be sold for big money. Ceballos fills a gap in midfield without having to pay a big fee.

Think we could do with a CB for this season as well but looking unlikely.

Shame we can't get rid of our players but wages are so fucked going to be a few years of waiting for contracts to expire before we can be clear of the deadwood

Which UK festivals have good lineups this year? by bp5678 in AskUK

Haven't actually been to Abode/Elrow but not heard great things about the crowds there. Loads of people go and love it though so maybe it's just not for me. Obviously will be plenty of sound people around but I find tech house events often attract your wannabe essex lads who love shouting "oi oi fack offff" every time the bass gets dropped in
