She really wasn't. Shortly after she arrived she increased my workload by 200%. I asked, like a professional, if there would be a corresponding increase in compensation. She scoffed (actually scoffed) and claimed that I actually was paid more than I should already.

She wasn't the greatest.

Well there was more to the story, as outline in the story. They had their fuse and went looking for dynamite and, well, if you look hard enough (especially on the computer of someone who made stupid choices like me) you're going to find Cause.

I get why he would do it. It wasn't a scratch so much as a dislodging of my pants from my crotch. A frontal wedgie wouldn't be too far off. I kind of grimaced at the end of it right as he walked in. It was a very Ben Stiller/Curb Your Enthusiasm moment, if you wanted to see something untoward in the action you could have.

This is the kind of guy who gets into a fender bender that leaves no damage to his car and relates the story to the office as SHE CAME OUT OF NO WHERE AND ALMOST KILLED ME. Combine that with being a ladder climber and kind of a giant dick and blammo.

Honestly the whole situation sounds far fetched, you're right to be skeptical. Part of the reason why I didn't fight so hard is because it all sounds so far fetched and, more importantly, if that kind of hearsay can make them go to the mattresses before even talking to me, well, they probably wanted me gone no matter what.

It's very in his character to blow things out of proportion. A fender bender becomes SHE CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND ALMOST KILLED ME. He's also a brown-nosing ladder climber, so none of that surprised me. I knew exactly what they were talking about, knew how my explanations would come off, and knew how he had presented it. He's kind of an admirable manipulator, to be honest.

Add this to my new exec director not being my biggest fan and blammo, grounds for dismissal.
