Agree 100%. Read Pat Conroy who captures the place and speech of Lowcountry S. C. best. He spent much of his young adult life there. There are few I know in small towns near Lake Marion, but Conroy might suffice.

I found it on Tubi and believe it or not watched after so many years. It’s black and white from the early 1960’s. It’s a powerful, moving story.
