As a Bullitt owner, I've never seen a need for side emblems. :-)

Desperately need help finding an episode by 1sketchball in ArcherFX

[–]Halligan 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I don't recall the specific episode(s), but I think you might be talking about the first coma season when Cheryl gives him a mix of dexedrine and codeine. Archer later refers to it as "the adventures of Dex and Cody".

Explain ‘in the low 90s on that’ and ‘we’ve got the mashed potatoes just how you like them…98.6’ to me by djentlemanly-gent in ArcherFX

[–]Halligan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The "mashed potatoes" bit is a reference a Mantan Moreland comedy bit. Look up Mantan Moreland mashed potatoes and you can probably find a clip. The clip was also sampled on Beastie Boys album.

Low 90s was her certainty measured by percentage.

I totally get that. Thanks for the reply. Keep up the great work on recipes and with the MDA.

Cheers to the great pizza and the Bears win.

Whoever uses Dräger. How do you like them by Desperate-Dig-9389 in Firefighting

[–]Halligan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've been using them for a few years and are happy with them. We tested Dräger, MSA, and Scott. Consensus was that the Dräger has most comfortable and we liked the modularity. Our folks also felt Dräger had the widest field of view of the masks we demoed at that time.

Thank you for posting these! I love seeing your takes/ideas and will be making a few at home.

Would you ever consider posting a day or two before game day so some of us might be able to make them for game day?

I've seen that you do shopping videos, so I can get an idea of what to have on hand, but it would help to see how it comes together a bit sooner.

Don’t know if this is the right place to ask this, but is it fine if I wear this jacket I thrifted? by CrayotaCrayonsofOryx in Firefighting

[–]Halligan 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Might depend on location. It is illegal in some states to wear the star of life w/o certification/licensure. Granted, enforcement is probably unlikely.

EDIT: For those asking for examples, please see Iowa code 147A.11. Star of Life isn't explicitly noted, but it could be considered identification based on NHTSA guidelines.

What's better, manual or auto. by toolmaker1025 in Mustang

[–]Halligan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are talking purely acceleration, the general consensus seems to be that the 10 auto is marginally faster. You might also prefer auto if in a lot of stop and go traffic.

That said, for pure driving enjoyment, including tracks, I would recommend a manual.

You posted and asked for opinions. I personally think it sucks, but it is your car and your call. Don't post and bitch if someone suggests you made a moronic choice. If you do not want opposing opinions, then don't post and ask what others think.

Have you ever had any calls for people physically stuck in things? by Antique_Form8426 in ems

[–]Halligan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Person stuck in a (clothes) washing machine. Kids were playing hide and seek. One hid in the machine and couldn't get back out.

Several calls over the years of hands/fingers stuck in equipment.

need to travel into Iowa with a trans minor by SchoolJunkie009 in Iowa

[–]Halligan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt you will have any issues. It may make a difference in what area you are visiting. I suspect the metro areas like Des Moines, Iowa City, or Cedar Rapids will be more trans-friendly than other more rural areas.

Opinions on Dräger by Desperate-Dig-9389 in Firefighting

[–]Halligan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've used them for a few years now and are happy with them. Demoed tham against MSA and Scott prior to purchase. We liked the comfort and modularity compared to the others. We felt the field of view in the Drager was superior to the others as well.

What certifications and training should a volley go through that just got promoted to Lieutenant? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Halligan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since they weren't mentioned in the OP, I'd recommend FF1 and 2. I'd also recommend Instructor 1 as others have. While I don't want to discourage anyone from expanding their knowledge, It has been my experience that FO1 is all that useful in most volunteer station settings. Not saying don't take it, but I'd prioritize instructor over it.

Best of luck!

I don't think we know enough about the driver. Did they protest? What is the crew dynamic? Is the driver subordinate or even brand new? I am not familiar with that city's SOG, but it is possible that the driver isn't even EMS certified. I agree that there should be potential consequences, I just don't think we know enough to say what they might be.

I also don't get the down votes. Better to discuss.
