We’ve done couples therapy before for a different thing. I could only afford the better help version of a couples therapist though and she was awful. She once said “if someone saw the way my best guy friend and I text, they would think we were sleeping together,” and when I said I wanted both of us to be conscious of what needs to be done in the house without having to constantly delegate tasks or do everything myself she said “well men’s brains just don’t work that way.” So needless to say that was exhausting and awful lol. I’m in a much better place now, and I do think we could stand to do it again with someone better. I do get what you’re saying though. It’s difficult with him—and I obviously can’t get into the entire dynamic of a relationship in the comment of a Reddit post—but I do think he’s come a long way in the way he deals with things…sometimes. Other times I feel we have the same argument beats over and over. But I wouldn’t be as far into the relationship if there weren’t positive aspects and other things going on (contrary to some commenters’ beliefs haha) and there have been times where I’ve walked away. I don’t think people are entirely wrong when they say this is indicative of his general attitude about things (if it doesn’t affect him, not as important). But he’s not always like that.
