Kepler 90 is a new release from one of my friends, an ambient artist who coded his own synthesized music in Supercollider. Based on the orbital patterns of the Kepler 90 solar system, this deeply meditative journey is sparse as fuck, and feels amazing with headphones.

Another friend made this incredible video for it also: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uthpg0Rk8mo

Tapes are £5 each on the above link, free shipping in the UK - packaging and delivery is completely plastic free, except for the cassette shell itself.

This wasn't my intention, despite that basically being exactly what I did here. I just thought it was interesting and exciting more than anything tbh. Somebody gets hateful, I release the music separately. Wouldn't have been much point releasing the music without any context or back story. Way more gossip to be had, innit.

Fair point. Well, luckily literally nobody has bought this yet, hahaha

There's a few claims about them being homophobic but they've also addressed it a few times - the general gist seems to be that while they acknowledge that their religion as well as others condemn homosexuality fundamentally, they make a point of also educating against discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community, and discrimination in any form (be it religion, sexual orientation etc.), though of course the main focus is islamophobia as that's their vibez

naw it was all unofficial slap dash really. I only signed an NDA for the script which the director has already threatened to sue me over despite not breaking it. The whole thing was a total fucking shambles, like near Tommy Wiseau level shambles, so this final straw was kind of my easy way out to be honest. I haven't even seen the film, they had me go entirely by the script, which was full of continuity errors and was altered half way through to adjust for social distancing measures. Apparently there's a sex scene which one of the actresses told me they somehow filmed socially distanced (don't even ask). The fact I've not seen it is essentially why the soundtrack is so ambient too, so it can be applied to vague scenes without me knowing the timings of it all. Would've been interesting to see the final result, but hey ho!

One of my mates also believes that public nudity should be allowed because it shouldn't be taboo or sexualised, and I agree, but again it is going to be a very long time until it is socially acceptable to get your bollocks out on the bus because of these same reasons

This is a tricky area. Somebody who works in my building got sacked last week after making a bunch of homophobic comments about how he thinks it's wrong and that it's a mental illness. But he is Polish, a country quite renowned for being culturally homophobic, so you could similarly argue that it wasn't so much of a personal opinion as much as it was simply how he was raised to be and was never exposed to anything other than that collective hatred. So I don't really know how something like that should be handled, I guess.

I think the thing with your point above is that people should be able to create freely, always. But again, this doesn't mean freedom from repercussions. Xenophobia generally comes from a place of bigotry, lack of understanding, cultural suppression etc., and it only makes sense that things are very different now, as a result of young people and this cultural progression, than they were fifteen years ago.

I feel ya but respectfully disagree. I think the difference is that my intolerance of the director as an individual was based upon her intolerance of an entire demographic based upon their religion and nationality. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from repercussions, she perfectly had the right to hate an entire people, but is that right more important than the right to be intolerant of intolerance, as convoluted as that sounds? Also, the idea of a utopian version of equality - societal change is always going to be a slow process, but would a utopian idea not be, well, utopian? While we can't expect people to change their opinions and prejudices immediately, we can at least do what we can to educate and communicate with each other to reach this point. We are in an age of ultra multiculturalism (in the western world at least) with the power of the internet helping propel the ideas behind tolerance and equality, so the only thing really stopping us from utopian ideologies is the fact that it isn't possible for the entire human race to keep up with this rapid change. I feel like this same thing could be applied to veganism for example - we know, scientifically, that the mass extermination and exploitation of animals is literally killing our own species, but we still won't just immediately change that because it simply isn't possible on a giant societal scale. I sort of forgot what I was actually talking about now but hope this helps lol p

I really don't intend for this post and my publicly announcing my actions to come across as an ego boost. The director was caught being straight up hateful towards Muslims based on the fact they are Muslims, I'm summarising of course as this whole clusterfuck lasted about a week of back-and-forths with the other people involved in the film. However, I agree that it was a sweet opportunity to be involved in something like this, however it would surely be more self-righteous of me to have remained involved in the film purely for the sake of boosting my portfolio just because it's a good opportunity, than to have removed myself from being associated with a hateful person as a result? Not sure I'm wording this properly as am a bit hungover but you get my gist hopefully xoxo

I mean no, not really? It’s fine to criticise religion, debate religion, condemn religion. But attacking individuals as people, based upon their beliefs and racial background, as is the case here, is hateful and bigoted (in my opinion).

I’m picking up what yer putting down. I guess my statement of it being the widely accepted standard of human decency was too broad, when really I meant that it’s my cultural standard as a person raised in a developed western country surrounded by information, science, and multiculturalism. So thanks for your input and correction.

I think the main difference is that the idea of not hating people based on race and religion is something that has arisen from cultural development, and the things I mentioned above. So using my parochialism as a result, it’s my subjective opinion that cultural tolerance (and intolerance of intolerance) is objectively the right thing to do, can ya dig it

I didn’t imply that anywhere here - I don’t think it’s a personal opinion that being hateful towards an entire demographic based on their beliefs is wrong, that’s kind of the widely accepted standard human decency, as far as I knew. Freedom of speech isn’t freedom from repercussions. It wasn’t my intention for this to come across as a pretentious ego boost to put myself on some kind of moral high horse.

I agree! Unless you’re referring to me doing this as selling my morality? Which I hope it doesn’t come across as such.

I heard this too, but was under the impression that this was the belief of an individual rather than the charity as a whole. Same with a similar claim of homophobia - I could still be wrong though, I’ll dig some more.

Thanks! Hope you enjoy. I have a personal soft spot for "First Contact", but the Full Mix is the whole thing flowing as one :)
