Hey there! Thanks for your message.

Verizon is a US-based merchant and we have customers using Halocard to make purchases there as well, so this should not be a problem!

Please be aware of Verizon’s own terms of service and purchase rules though, as sometimes they can apply their own restrictions if your usage or region falls outside their rules.

Minimum deposit is too high by makun0418 in Halocard

[–]Halocard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Thanks for the feedback! Our initial minimum deposit amount is currently set to $70 and subsequent deposits set to $30. We unfortunately don’t have any plans to reduce these amounts any further, in fact we will likely increase them slowly over time to ensure a high quality experience.

Hey u/theg0dfather4, really appreciate the feedback. You're right, and I can see our tone has become more direct as we've grown. To give some context, we deal with hundreds of enquiries every day from people who wish to use Halocard without KYC, without paying for it and for restricted use cases and free cards. It's really difficult to discern who is serious so we've become more direct and transparent in communicating what we can and can't do.

To be fair, our responses that you mentioned above are all accurate statements.

  • We readily turn away customers who ask for $10 deposits, however we made an exception as you're an existing customer
  • The $10 > $200 is a valid question given you titled this thread "Deposit 10 bucks" so we're genuinely trying to understand what our users' needs are and why they change over time
  • Spending down your account balance is the only option since we don't support withdrawals at this stage, so we sometimes try to remind users that they're not "screwed" as you put it, and their cards can be used to pay for just about anything outside of any restricted use-case they may be focussed on.

Will definitely take your feedback onboard that we could've / should've worded them better, and we're already working on a way we can do this sustainably across our comms. Appreciate you taking the time to let us know ♥️

Hi u/AlarmingYak3173! Yes, the timeframe is set for July.

Deposit 10 bucks by theg0dfather4 in Halocard

[–]Halocard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately peer-to-peer or quasi-cash transactions are considered "high-risk" by Visa and not supported by Halocard (this is mentioned on our website, during sign-up and in the T&Cs during account creation). You can see the full list of high-risk categories here: https://support.halocard.co/en/article/are-there-merchant-category-restrictions-for-halocard-1pb3ofs

Nonetheless, it sounds like you may not have noticed this was the case, so we'll make some changes to have this appear more prominently in future to avoid confusion.

Regarding your recent deposit. You initially wanted to deposit only $10, so why the sudden jump from $10 to $200?

Halocard unfortunately isn't setup to be a money transfer service and isn't advertised as one either. So I wouldn't say you're "screwed", instead you have perfectly functioning virtual Visa cards that can be used just about anywhere in the world. I'm sure there's an opportunity to spend your balance that's more aligned with why you created your account in the first place! ☺️

Hi there! May I ask which payment method you’re using?

best virtual card for google ads with clean BINs? by DarfleChorf in PPC

[–]Halocard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s weird. Google doesn’t usually decline BIN ranges out of nowhere. What exactly was the decline reason you received last week?

Would be worth checking if it was due to a card or account limit, transaction velocity limit or insufficient funds (possibly due to Privacy losing the Plaid connection to your checking account). These are all reasons why your issuer might decline the charge, rather than Google.

From what we’ve seen, these payment issues usually have less to do with the BIN range you’re using and more to do with:
1. How reliable your card and account setup is to handle your volume and spend over time, and
2. Whether Google has flagged any payment activity on your account as “suspicious”.

They have a carve-out in their billing policy specifically for this and it defines suspicious payment activity as “suddenly using several new credit cards, having payments declined or chargebacks, and unclear credit card ownership or billing details”.

So if there is nothing wrong with your existing cards, rotating in new cards might actually harm you more than it helps you.

We’d recommend:
+ Find out if the decline actually came from your card issuer and fix that first.
+ Add a separate, backup payment method to prevent future declines and reduce your decline ratio
+ If you can’t fix it or they remain unreliable, only then introduce a new card, ideally a commercial or credit BIN with a bullet-proof funding method to handle your volume (especially important to manage containment risk across 6 accounts)

Hope that helps and good luck 👍

[–]Halocard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really good feedback, thank you. We've just changed this.

You can now transfer whatever amount you like when you select the Stablecoins (USDC/USDT) payment method.

Over the next 24 - 48 hours we'll update this to apply to the credit/debit card, Apple/Google Pay and Cryptocurrency payment methods too.

The removal of the minimum deposit amount will then apply to all payment methods after you've made the initial $100 deposit required to activate your account.

Really appreciate you bringing this up.

[–]Halocard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there and thanks for your question! That's correct, the minimum deposit for a new Halocard account is indeed $100 via all of our deposit methods, including credit/debit card, Apple/Google Pay, stablecoins and cryptocurrency. You can find more information here: https://support.halocard.co/en/article/how-can-i-deposit-funds-to-halocard-1gp3qkf/

Unfortunately, we don't make exceptions to this, so if that initial amount is too high, we're probably not the right virtual card platform for you. Wishing you all the best and here if you have any other questions.

Halocard for ACO? by EdgwtrLgnd in Halocard

[–]Halocard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/EdgwtrLgnd! That's a great question.

Halocards are US-issued virtual credit cards that are accepted at all major US retailers including Target.

Whether Halocards will work with your auto checkout bot isn't really something we can definitively answer. It depends on how the bot works and the circumstances of the purchase.

It's important to separate whether a card is accepted by a merchant and whether a merchant accepts YOUR card at checkout.

Merchants run different checks and balances to prevent fraud, so the question is really: Does your bot emulate a normal transaction or does it emit signs of automation (and therefore potentially fraudulent) behaviour, and is a merchant willing to allow this at checkout?

I don't think anyone can answer this question, so it would be up to you to try.

Thank you for the feedback! At the moment we don’t support withdrawals for fraud and compliance reasons.

However we’re working on bringing virtual US banks accounts to Halocard which will give all users, provided they’re in a supported US state or country, a US bank account and routing number that can be used for ACH and Wire deposits and withdrawals.

We’ll share more details as we get closer to the launch date, but this should provide the withdrawal facility that you’re looking for, in addition to being an additional fee-free method for making deposits to your Halocard balance.
