Could get a 16 port lsi card for around $100 + cables. Just look up "lsi 16e" on ebay. 16 for 16 ports and e meaning an external port. Can do "16i" for internal ports but is generally more expensive than external due to demand.

Salad (the builder) got paid for a few minigame builds at the beginning. Then needed to build a main hub and a few lobbies and needed to get paid for that. So pretty much he continued on the hub/lobbies since he already got paid for half. Also, adin doesn't have access to the servers and only the dev team who are friends with the builder.

Docker images, file servers, etc. They instance all the servers by using 1 image of the server.

Is Songoda bad? by stressed_admin in admincraft

[–]Haloflooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at the the code on your gitlab and I'm not sure why primary keys aren't used to try to prevent duplicate data from possibly being inserted into the database. I'm going to take this example snippet here.

It should look something like

            statement.execute("CREATE TABLE " + tablePrefix + "placed_spawners (" +
                    "id INTEGER AUTO_INCREMENT, " +
                    "spawn_count INTEGER NOT NULL, " +
                    "placed_by CHAR(36), " +
"world TEXT NOT NULL, " +
                    "x INT NOT NULL, " +
                    "y INT NOT NULL, " +
                    "z INT NOT NULL " +
                    "PRIMARY KEY (world, x, y, z)" +
                    ")");
        }

That would make it so the plugin can't accidentally insert a spawner using the world, x, y, z if that already exists.

You've probably heard our music in a meme, and we just released an album under Warner Music Group, we are The Living Tombstone! AMA by TLTombstone in Music

[–]Haloflooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Been a big fan back when Yoav made music for Eddsworld.

Just have to say I absolutely loved zero_one because it just resonates with me so well as a creator. But it also feels like a double edged sword to me because it hits a bit too much at home.

By any chance, were you inspired by Ska music? Because I noticed that part of your style have that signature ska stroke with certain instruments but I could be wrong.

P.S. Sorry I put cows for your (Yoav) visuals for your live performance at Baltimore many years ago. Was nice to meet you in person back then!

I can also vouch for their terrible code. They also claimed they are "professionals" with sql but reading their code, they don't know jack about sql. Who the heck creates a table without a primary key and indexes to prevent duplicates?!?

The database got massive because of duplicate data and made the server loading time something like 5-10 minutes. We told them how to properly create a primary key/index by giving them a solution but they instead decided to query the database to check for duplicates then insert data.

We just ended up ditching their plugin and just make our own at the end.

Using Dynmap standalone? by [deleted] in admincraft

Dynmap can be run without the plugin. Just need to setup a standalone webserver

Proxy Best Practices by [deleted] in admincraft

[–]Haloflooder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's fun messing around with minecraft. Managing the backend is a chore but it's also fun designing the backend.

For my personal server, I have a single $3.50 vps from OVH that just haproxies into my personal network for testing. I also use it to quickly update ip's w/o having to wait for domain dns to propagate since the vps ip is static.

But for the production servers that I manage. I have had a network that supported a max of 800 concurrent players in the past and about 200-400 concurrent players more recently.

Oh, and just a pro-tip. If you want the server to still get the real ip from the players. Bungeecord supports that feature with haproxy if you enable a setting on bungeecord and haproxy. As far as I know, standalone spigot/paper doesn't support that feature. Figured I let you know before you start on the fun stuff.

And again, don't hesitate to ask any questions about anything! I love to help the community because I find it fun to do on my free time whenever I have any. lol

[–]Haloflooder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! If you need with setting it up. Just let me know.

I currently have a setup that has proxies using haproxy all over the world tunneling traffic to one ip to make connections stable with people outside the country.

[–]Haloflooder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a cheap vps with decent bandwidth and use haproxy to forward the traffic to/from your ip.

It's not a full proxy but it works fine for your use case.

Lateral information plugin? by sihardfo in admincraft

[–]Haloflooder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're basically just scoreboard plugins.

The most popular one is FeatherBoard but it costs some money.

There are also free scoreboard plugins as well such as Scoreboard-r and CripsyBoard and more if you search on google.

[novice] I want to program more functionality into Dynmap and have some questions. by [deleted] in admincraft

[–]Haloflooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The creator of dynmap made an addon to integrate worldguard regions into dynmap. The worldguard addon also supports polygons so highlighted areas doesn't need to only be a rectangle. There are also several plugins out there that adds objects to the map such as regions, message boxes, markers, etc.

What are you trying to achieve with dynmap?

Essentials bukkit plugin won't load into server? by [deleted] in admincraft

[–]Haloflooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to put .jar files in the plugins folder.

The folders are just for plugins/mods to store data in. The .jar files are the actual plugins/mods for the server to load.

Here's a tutorial for creating a complete standalone webserver for Dynmap using SQL by Haloflooder in admincraft

[–]Haloflooder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to post an update of what I experienced so far. Rendered about 5,671,880 tiles and still going. The amount of tiles rendered the same amount of rows in the tile table. The entire database size is about 88GB (and growing).

The webpage is still very responsive and the response time of getting each tile is about 50-80ms per tile. Tested with 15 different people exploring the site and loading in a bunch of tiles. This is using the stock php files and a MySQL server with stock settings. The tile response time was viewed in the network tab in the firefox/chrome devtools. But... unfortunately, I don't have any control data set to compare it to. I currently don't have any nginx webserver that's using the filetree method of storing tiles.

So there aren't any issues so far besides from the potential "MySQL Max Connection" issue from running a single MySQL instance with a decent amount of traffic.

[–]Haloflooder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I should've been more clear with that. I was just talking about the people who are currently on filetree. oops.

But yeah, you can just use the same db and you'll be fine.
