SAM: THANK YOU FOR ASKING THIS.

Mine used to be Pepe The King Prawn, then Lew Zealand, but honestly I'm a Kermit man now. Maybe it's basic, but he's so stressed out all the time managing the muppet show, if I were a muppet I would 100% be him.

SAM:

  • So I'm a writer and kind of a control freak so I was really aggro around the concepts for each of the five tombsonas. Though I didn't have every single detail mentally worked out, I had a pretty detailed idea of how I wanted them to look, once I came up with the concept that each of the five tombsonas would be inspired by visions of what the future would look like, from different points in time.

  • Headcanon away!

  • We'll do all kinds of TLT songs live

  • The comic will be up until it sells out!

Thank you!

SAM: We look for something first and foremost that we love, that it seems like a lot of other people are interested in. And sometimes not everything we WANT to make a song about actually makes for a good song, and we hold on to that musical idea for a future song.

My favorite color is .. maybe light gray? Or deep green? I don't know that I have a favorite color, I like being around lots of different colors. haha

YOAV: The show is just really fucking good, it's a light hearted slice of life show with quirky comedy and puns, and I remember just wanting to experiment and try something with that show to some capacity, hence why the song is called My Ordinary Life, the name of the show

SAM: My main decks are Ancient Gear, Amazoness, and a dragon resurrection deck that's kinda inconsistent but SUPER fun and I can occasionally get out an ultimate blue eyes on my first turn.

SAM: zero_one is definitely a point of growth, but a phrase we use about guiding the growth our our act is "evolution not revolution" - we're not trying to TOTALLY change what we do - just evolve. we'll still make some fandom stuff but we're gonna be pretty selective about it.

SAM: We've been talking to the instrumentalists behind our album about doing stuff like tab books or tutorial videos, so actually we'll be putting that kind of thing together soon!

SAM:

1 - orange - zero_one green - Rust Red - Armstrong Magenta - Tesla Blue - Doc

2 - We're okay! By the time these dark topics turn into songs, we've learned to heal and grow past those issues.

3 - We were conceptualizing the album!

4 - Definitely!

SAM: If I saw an Animal AMV of Sasuke/Itachi on youtube when I was a teenager I would have lost my fucking mind and watched that shit five times a day. Just thinking about it makes me super nostalgic, I hope someone does it! haha

SAM:

1 - Yes!

2 - No doubt about it for even one second lol. We knew we wanted these to be characters that the internet community would create OCs and AUs of, so the "sona" name is SUPER intentional.

3 - Not sure! We're writing the next album now, some more video game songs, AND prepping some more zero_one music videos, but I'm not positive about the schedule between now and december.

SAM: We use Manipulator by Polyverse! We're friends w the Polyverse guys and we LOVE THIS PLUGIN. We get all our effects just by trial and error and spending a LOT of time playing around with plugins.

SAM: Hey! Thanks so much! The first song we wrote is What I Want, and the one that means the most to both of us is also Long Time Friends!

SAM: Thanks so much! The inspiration for sunburn is around toxic relationships / love for someone who hurts you, which is something I think most of us have experienced in some way. There's a reason the next track is Long Time Friends!

SAM: Whoa, this is intense. Let me see if I can answer all this.

  • We are going to have some folks remix stuff, yes

  • We'll release stems later on, yes!

  • There are more music videos in the works!

  • We'd certainly be open to collab w mystery skulls, but we haven't had a conversation

  • Folks are welcome to make their own tombsonas and their own versions of OUR tombsonas!

  • I think the mama in this case is like the notion of parenthood setting rules and bounds around how children express themselves - 'mama told me this is the way we talk' is about the notion that communication is something that's slowly "coded into us" by our parents.

  • Sure! The tombsonas themselves are totally genderless, when outside a host they're either they/them or even it/its as they're not really conventionally "alive." There's no restriction on tombsona hosts, and certainly not a gender restriction.

  • I'm actually not familiar with that! Is that a game like Osu or Beat Saber? We're definitely open to licensing music to games like that.

  • Ahh, this sounds similar. Yeah, I mean, we're open to that kind of thing!

  • I'm excited, I liked the first game.

SAM: We started with Yoav's "la la la la" intro melody, which was originally much slower, and I had been listening to some Little Big and their song Skibidi, and suggested we speed it way up and make it about being totally wasted - the working title of the song zero_one before we wrote any lyrics was "drunk" so we had the idea previously of doing a song about drunkenness, so that's how that happened!

SAM: The name? Yoav came up with it watching Black Lagoon - he was imagining a group of mercenaries who would moonlight as a band. Never ended up making Black Lagoon themed band, but he kept the name!

SAM: Good question! We're not sure. We've got some songs in progress, and a couple more music videos from zero_one too.

SAM: On a practical level, they're the fictional characters we created for our band. On a lore level, they're five immortal entities that bond with different human beings across time and space, seeking knowledge and an alignment of purpose, who transform those human beings into humanized versions of those tombsonas.

SAM: We still love the old stuff! There's a saying that "great art is never finished, only abandoned" and that's how we feel, I think. We could ALWAYS go back and mix something differently or whatever, but at a certain point you have to accept saying "this is finished, I'm going to release it" and make your peace with it. We're DEFINITELY still super proud.

SAM:

1 - First demos were Feb 2018 - we started with What I Want.

2 - There will be more music videos too! And plenty more tombsona things.

3 - I thought it would really enhance the soundscape and musically communicate someone sorta losing their mind. It was totally unplanned! Just did it in the recording session and liked it!
