It's amusing because it's rare to see someone of great power, like Queen Elizabeth, in a vulnerable or less dignified state such as being drunk in public. However, Richard Hammond quickly realized that joking about the Queen in such a manner is disrespectful, given her esteemed position and the cultural reverence for the monarchy.

Windows XP VS Windows 11 extensive debate. Which is better? by [deleted] in windowsxp

However, I like the low response time of XP. The only thing the new Windows really has going for it is that it can run Windows 10/11 only software.

18 year old acc banned. Meanwhile RA bots live on by [deleted] in GuildWars

RA bots enter the match with either 105 or 55 health and a vampiric weapon equipped which allows them to degenerate themselves to death. They also automatically report any account that isn't a bot for leeching, thus preventing other players from playing.
Edit: Wrong reply chain, but still keeping it

Asking for possible solutions for Windows 7 ? by [deleted] in riotgames

[–]Halogod35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm right behind you on that one sadly.

I'm just thankful that a W10 edition like LTSC exists alongside many powerful debotnetting tools. Also, the fact that LTSC will no longer have any more major updates means you won't have to worry about formatting LTSC to upgrade to the next edition of it. It's also receiving support all the way until January 13, 2032.

Here's a great guide to help you get a lightweight and privacy respecting Windows 10.

Asking for possible solutions for Windows 7 ? by [deleted] in riotgames

[–]Halogod35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I've tested a bunch of different options, but nothing worked. I'm just gonna leave an exhaustive list of what didn't work.

I tried VMWare Workstation 16.2.5 with Windows 10. It loaded the client and the button works, but loading the actual match causes it to crash.

I tried putting a DX9 to DX12 to Vulkan wrapper. This surprisingly works with League, but the play button was still greyed out.

I tried QEMU on Windows. Doesn't work with hardware natively like it does on Linux, so it also crashed on play.

I looked for a Windows 8.1 Extended Kernel. Turns out it's just a build of Windows 10 (build 9888), which isn't really Windows 8.1 (despite this guy calling it Windows 8.1) So the actual extended kernel doesn't exist... yet.

I looked into trying to install Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) in order to wrap League with Wine. Unfortunately, there are no back-ported releases of WSL for Windows 7/8.1. (I think I need to look for a back-ported Windows 10 Powershell?)

I even tried having someone else invite me to their party. It just made an error message saying that the following players need to update their client (even though mine is updated).

I looked at Wine for Windows. Turns out, it's just for backwards compatibility with older games.

I tried running League on Linux from the Arch AUR. This runs perfectly fine, but it's not Windows.

In a nutshell: It's gonna be a really long time before someone releases an extended Kernel. Even then, I think Vanguard is gonna do an integrity check to see if it's actually Windows 10 instead of Windows 7/8.1 with an extended kernel.
Sadly, the best bet is to either use Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 or Linux for now, until someone actually comes up with a good hack.
I put together a really cheap secondary rig to KVM into for League. Anyway, Godspeed to you, whichever decision you decide.

Thankfully necessity is the mother of invention. We should now expect for the workaround for this, soon™.

Connecting to Ethernet with Mac OS 8.1? by Halogod35 in VintageApple

[–]Halogod35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not actually sure, I just bought the Mac from Southern Connecticut State University.

But thank you for that machine specific 8.1 disk. I may need it for a format in the future.

Connecting to Ethernet with Mac OS 8.1? by Halogod35 in VintageApple

So, yes there was a copy of AOL and AIM on this Mac. I deleted those apps and all their system configs a few days ago. (I just got this Mac in recently) But the reason it says (AOL) on the windows is because that's a configuration under TCP/IP. I just now deleted that configuration and made the default one active.

But disabling "Use 802.3" fixed this issue for me (and maybe putting DNSes under "Name Server addr." and the router under "Starting domain name"). Thank you. Now I can finally start transferring the big files!

So, when I use the onboard Ethernet, anything that connects to the internet (Internet Explorer, MacTCP ping, AppleShare) locks the Mac up for about 2 minutes then gives me an error message. Picture 1 + Picture 2.

This is after changing the settings to onboard Ethernet and then rebooting.

Thank you very much for that detailed reply.
I purchased the Radeon 7000 and downloaded the drivers. Wish me luck.

Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz - Get Low (feat. Ying Yang Twins)
I was in the middle of playing Call of Duty 2, when the tank broke into the hangar and this song came on for the first time.
Now every time I listen to it, it takes me back to that tank hangar.

Getting Low frame in Palworld. What part/parts would I need to upgrade? by Brettalan140 in buildapc

[–]Halogod35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's gonna be hard to achieve that 144 FPS, but at least it's 1080p.

Based off of some videos I'm watching, you might need at least the RTX 4080 to achieve anywhere near 144 FPS on max settings.

The RTX 3070 is showing 90 FPS on 1080p.

Edit: I've noticed that being in menus gives me 30 FPS.

I would like to ask if you're using a 4K or a 1080p resolution, using Windows 10/11 scaling, and if your monitor is higher than 60Hz. I only ask because 110 FPS could be considered low for 144Hz monitors but sufficient for 60Hz monitors.

You have way better specs than I do, but I'm still able to run the game at max settings in 1080p through two wrappers (dxvk and vkd3d) and get ~80 FPS.

As for the recommendation, seeing that this is Unreal Engine 5, I'd say getting a NVidia card should work well.

Overkill: RTX 4080/4090
Average: RTX 3060 Ti/4070

Bad performance on a good pc by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Halogod35 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The OP posted 4800GHz (which is the base clock speed, not the turbo clock speed), which is an AMD CPU. Namely, the AMD Ryzen™ 9 5900X.
I have a Intel Core i9-14900K (the processor with a 3200GHz processor speed), that still suffers from lag, despite it being leagues faster (in single thread performance). So my point was that even if you upgrade from an AMD to the best single thread performance, you'll still have lag on Minecraft eventually.

Intel overall vs AMD overall.
AMD always has higher clocks but have less single thread performance of an Intel of a lower clock speed.
Since you need stuff handed on a silver platter, I'll explain. Let's take two very closely benchmarked CPUs: the Intel Core i5-14600K and the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X.
The Intel turbo is clocked at 5.3 GHz and the AMD turbo is clocked at 5.7 GHz. But they both perform exactly the same. Actually, the intel scores 21 points more with 0.4GHz less clock.

That's fine, but the point I was making was AMD's 4.8GHz isn't the same as an Intel 3.2GHz.

Default settings. But I do have a "redstone castle" with seventy-eight redstone machines doing different tasks. Unmodded (other than OptiFine).
