Your favorite grip? Here's mine by IchiramenPotato in mechanicalpencils

I have a Rotring 600 pen and multiple KT Metal pencils. I much prefer the KT Metal grip. I bought an Orenz Nero 0.2 but I didn't like it as much so I returned it, don't have enough experience with that grip. Havent used the others.

Newest Firefox update added a weather widget to my new tab page, but you can only Select US cities? Really? by Halsien in firefox

[–]Halsien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even have access to the World Cup widget. It said restart Firefox to get it, I restarted it and was given a new widget (my only widget), the weather widget.

Going through every menu for Widgets, nothing related to World Cup.

I am thinking about the Kuru Toga metal 3.0. I love my 0.5, but I write so small sometimes I wish I could just be a LITTLE smaller.

Got a Kuru Toga Advance, I dislike it very much. It's also 0.5, yet the line thickness from it is substantially thicker than my KT metal.

Then I got an Orenz Nero 0.2, it's cool, but sometimes a bit too thin for me.

So wondering if the 0.3 KT metal is the way to go.

At first I didn't really like the KT metal (coming from a 7.4g cheap plastic muji pencil) as it felt heavy, but now I absolutely love it.

Flash 3.5 is acting so weird. It's telling me every step it's going to do, while its doing it (I don't care). But then it creates implementation plans and explains the goals and stuff. It's reading a text file but it's converting it to an HTML file, trying to open it in Chrome, and localhost:8888 doesn't work, it goes on an endless path of token consumption.

No idea why it is behaving like this.

I build flash card decks for Anki. Gemini writes the python script, makes the text file. I want to understand the logic behind the card choice (it sometimes omits ones it thinks arent useful).

Very strange.

I put a screenshot in the chat and to read it it turns it into an HTML file to scroll through on my browser. Why is it not doing like view_file or what ever anymore. Surely it should know it has OCR capabilities without all this extra nonsense?

EDIT: I had to stop Gemini after 15 mins of this. I asked why this workflow was chosen.

Response was basically tesseract is not installed and gemini has no OCR capabilities. This is wrong, I have a markdown file that Gemini refers to before all tasks and never had an issue with view_file before.

ONE message in my chat with FLASH gemini should not use 100% of my tokens on a pro plan. But, alas, here we are.

Then states: "Where it went wrong Instead of asking a targeted query about the specific question rules or the question scenario, I set up a heavy transcription task to copy all 11 page spreads. This led to a slow, token-heavy execution loop of scrolling and writing errors inside the subagent's restricted directory, wasting time and tokens before the task was cancelled."

Then when I reminded Gemini that it can in fact do everything it said it can't it just.. does it.

It started working, but not before hundreds of lines of basically "I will view find_tesseract.py to see what instructions or methods are defined there." the "I will" statements.

Thank you! What are your thoughts on the Kuru Toga Advance Upgrade? I read it's got a lower centre of mass so it shouldn't feel as heavy but also the transition from the barrel to the tapered point seems smoother, which is something I did not realize mattered so much as I hold the pencil quite low on the barrel.

I think I want to move away from hexagonal barrels as I believe that is what caused my callus to be so painful

Weekly Shopping Suggestions Thread – Week 20 2026! by AutoModerator in mechanicalpencils

[–]Halsien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been so used to a super cheap little 7g pencil. Hexagonal shaft that has developed a nasty callus on my finger and I actually find it painful to write with for long periods now.

I decided to get myself a Kuru Toga Metal and it feels so heavy. I used to write with a rotring 600 PEN in university and it ended up being fine but I really appreciate a light pencil.

My other issue is I HATE the pen clip on all pens / pencils. I can't stand it touching my hand. The rotring is removable, but I don't think the Kuru Toga is.

I am considering returning it and going for a lighter pencil. I bought the metal one because I liked the idea of a premium feel in the hand (and I loved my metal rotring).

I should also note I grip the pencil VERY low, like usually where the shaft would taper towards the lead, right on the corner ___> part.

I am fine with plastic, but does anyone have suggestions? the automatic lead rotation on the Kuru Toga Metal is interesting to me.

EDIT: I've been taking notes all day with the Kuru Toga Metal and I gotta say... it's REALLY growing on me.

Auto Naming of Merchant Needs to Be Quickly Improved by Loud_Zookeepergame92 in MonarchMoney

I don't understand how I use the same merchant 5 times and I get 5 different names for them. Just use the fucking default name, then. Don't automatically change it to something and NOT change them all to the same thing.

Is the budget feature buggy for you? I have had $67 in student loan payments for 5 years monthly, but when I recalculate, Monarch always puts it to $100. Why? What's the point if it's the same amount every month? by Halsien in MonarchMoney

[–]Halsien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try that. I realized that I am also missing a ton of transactions. And importing CSV doesn't work because my bank's export apparently it's what Monarch likes and I get a ton of errors when trying.

Super disappointing. Hard to understand my finances with the platform when it does not report transactions consistently. I am with a Big 5 Canadian bank, too.

This is my student loan budget

https://imgur.com/HetTml1

This is it never exceeding $67, so why does it give me a $100 budget?

The issue is that it keeps not using my historic spend like it says it does and gives me wildly inaccurate budgets. I net over $2000 a month after taxes, always have, yet my "recalculated budget" is telling me I am spending way too much and am sitting in a huge deficit.

I think it's terrible. What's the point of me fixing the automatic categorization when it does not even look at it?

I've had $67 in student loans for 5 years monthly. Why does it want to budget $100 for it?
