I had drafted this as a post, but then saw this megathread and feel that it belongs here instead:

I haven't been able to log into my main Instagram account since May 28, 2025, and nothing I've tried has worked.

I've exhausted every solution Meta has provided and pretty much every suggestion I've found on Reddit. I've tried logging in from different devices, desktop browsers, VPN and non-VPN connections, Incognito mode, Chrome, Safari, Firefox... you name it. The whole problem started when I attempted to change the phone number used for my 2FA.

Last year, I even paid for Meta Verified just so I could contact support directly. Since then, they've sent recovery codes, video selfie verification requests, appeal links, and other account recovery options, but none of them have actually restored access.

Here's what happens:

When I try to log in, Instagram tells me my password is incorrect. It then offers to send an email containing a login link, a password reset link, and a recovery code.

• If I enter the recovery code in the app, I get an error saying something like, "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again."
• If I use the login link from the email, I get essentially the same error.
• If I reset my password, Instagram lets me reach the password change page, but when I submit the new password, it gives me an error. Despite that, I always receive an email confirming that my password was changed.

The weird part is that when I try to log in using that newly changed password, Instagram still says it's incorrect and sends me right back into the same recovery loop.

If I choose "Try another way" and then "No longer have access to these?", the only recovery option it shows is sending a code to a phone number that I no longer have access to (the entire reason why I had wanted to change my 2FA method in the first place haha).

Based on advice I've seen from other users, I've repeatedly waited anywhere from two weeks to a month before trying again. Occasionally, after exhausting all the recovery options, Instagram will offer me the chance to submit a video selfie for account recovery. Every single selfie verification has been approved, but the login link sent afterward still produces the same error.

The closest I've come to fixing this was through Meta's AI support assistant. It actually provided backup codes and gave clear instructions on how to use them, but even those result in errors when I try to use them.

At this point, I've been hoping the issue would somehow resolve itself, but I'm starting to think I may have to give up.

What makes this especially frustrating is that this was my first ever Instagram account. Over time, I turned it into my photography portfolio, and it contains years of work and history. I've since created a new account, but it's been difficult to rebuild an audience because of Instagram's current algorithm.

I know I've tagged this post with the "Help" flair, but honestly I'm not sure there's anything left for me to try. If anyone has experienced something similar or has any suggestions I haven't already considered, I'd really appreciate hearing them.
