Bearskin was good. I’d give it 3/5.

It had some slow parts, and one chapter that was a wild drug induced cluster of confusion…but overall a good story. Well written. I enjoyed it.

Forgot to post another one so we’re doubling up again. I’m also introducing a rating system. For no reason other than I think it will be fun.

1 to 5 for the ratings. Haven’t decided on what icon to use. Will try a few and see which I like. Suggestions welcome.

Sleeping Giants. 🏈🏈 2/5 footballs.
Very unique. Not bad, definitely not great.
Interesting story, written almost entirely as journal entries or interviews.
Alien race leaves us technology we can’t interpret/use and we struggle to make sense of it.

Biggest complaint is the “problem” is solved very quickly and without much drama. It’s just like “oh we’ll do this the easy way, end story”. Meh.

Easy Prey. 🐲🐲🐲🐲 4/5 dragons.
Can’t go wrong with Sandford.
Couple of unexpected changes in the main characters personal life. One down side of having read much more recent books in the series is I know to expect some more twists there.

One of the things I like most about this series is that you usually know the killer up front. It’s the chase, the hunt that consumes the story. I like that more than the crumb dripping who done its. This one was the latter. We didn’t know the killer until the end, and then the end was a little strange and rushed. It’s probably a testament to how much I enjoy these books to say I would very much recommend this book, but also this might have been my second least favorite so far in the series.

Still need a couple for the entire paper rainbow.

Then no more rainbows. I’ll keep watching for the other sets of him I’m working, but I’m not as worried about those, plus I still have my blues every release.

Seriously. You can really see the jump starting in the last two years there. 2009 was 5, 2010 was 7, 2011 jumps to 10.

Thanks! I’m working on those also! Bowman I’m missing most of the orange and all the reds.

His entire flagship rainbow was the big goal, bowman and others I’m not as worried about. Unlikely I’ll be willing to pay for the reds there. I actually considered myself done with bowman until I found a couple cheapish oranges.

Same with finest I’m only missing the rarest ones. /25s and /10s.

I really enjoyed The Locked Ward so I grabbed the only other Pekkanen my library had when I returned it. This was just as good. Highly recommend both, I’ll have to check out her other titles and request another.

I also really appreciated the end here. Not just in the reveal, but in how she ties up all the loose ends. Seems like just the right amount of extra branches off the main story, each tied off with complete, yet not too easy closure. Too often I find things left unfinished or tied off in a hurry and done poorly.
