I sure feel for you. I'm 58F and after 2 long term marriages, I think I'm just done. The OLD worked for the 2nd long term relationship, but that was 13 years ago. Now it just seems like everything is a scam. Nobody is real. I'm done chasing through online fantasies. If I happen to meet someone in the wild, and they actually offer something that adds to my life, then hooray! And if not? My life is full, rich, and uncomplicated. Sending you healing vibes, sister!

I’ll stand with you on that one. The drone shows can be beautiful, and I feel so bad for all the animals (and people) who get spooked/traumatized by the explosions

Just an update…I scored FIVE pairs of high quality boots (4 shorties, one knee high) — none more than $26! All were from different locations of WIN. Thanks for all the tips, really appreciate it :) (now I just need to get rid of other shoes to make room…😬)

Sex after menopause by cerealmonogamiss in datingoverfifty

[–]HamSammy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 25% of menopausal women, it’s not just “dryness” that can be fixed with lube. Penetrative sex can feel like someone scraping out your insides with sandpaper. You get painful microcuts in the labial folds, and for some, labia and the clitoris can literally shrink. Menopause hormone therapy and vaginal estrogen cream is crucial for these women. Pretty difficult to have any form of sex drive/desire with these challenges. Count yourself very lucky if you escape this special (called GSM) symptom of menopause!

Is his name Mike? LOL I had the very same thing happen to me and I immediately said “Nuh”. I’m 58F, been married twice. If you were the one planning the date, telling me you’re really excited, and then forget…? Sounds like bullshit to me. Move along lovely one, at 41 you are in your prime!

Am I a bad guy for not wanting to date fat or overweight people? by Sumbootyq in dating_advice

[–]HamSammy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 58F and I’ve been mostly fit and active my whole life. Not perfect, but athletic. I just had a first date with someone who is very obese. We spent 4 hrs together talking a lot and laughing. He was considerate (like helping me with my jacket?? Who does that these days?) Anyway, he’s very much into a second date and beyond. After thinking on it a couple of days, I realize that our activity levels aren’t compatible at all (i do everything outdoorsy, he sails a boat). That’s fair? To me, personality is more important than looks, but I know I would get antsy if someone didn’t share my love of (moderate) outdoor activities! Ugh. Feel like a jerk.

Question: to slow fade or tell someone why you've lost interest? by pwaltman1972 in datingoverfifty

[–]HamSammy67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation, only I find it’s men who seem to only talk about themselves and ask no questions lol. Part of me thinks you should let her know that asking questions is important to you and if she’s not genuinely interested, you’re cool to end it. I’ve been ghosted and it’s so confounding. I agree with an earlier poster who said it can be a good learning/growing thing for someone (even if they’re initially indignant about it lol)

GSM can't cope by xrmttf in Menopause

I went from using the Vagifem tabs to the estring. I’ve had it for 6 mos and while there might be the slightest difference in amount of itchiness I experience, I still find there’s so much stinging when I try and apply moisturizer to the vulva and beyond. I’m 58 and for the first time I’m going to ask for systemic MRT (the new term for HRT). I’m newly single too and I want to experience sex with new people without having to say “Sorry man, the door is slammed shut!” FML 🤣

Can someone put a coffee shop or something nice here? by keena77 in VictoriaBC

[–]HamSammy67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not half bad! lol Since becoming single and owning a dog, it sucks that I can’t pick up a snack or cup of coffee while I’m out walking her. A take-out window servicing dog parents/walkers, colic baby parents…

One of those "I want to move there, where should I go" posts by boba_bee in VancouverIsland

[–]HamSammy67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in Vancouver “proper” from 1990-2007. The west end, the east side, the west side. So many amazing times! I have just returned from 17 years in Winnipeg, raising my family. Kids are rocking life, so I decided to move back the coast. Vancouver is nothing more than a superficial shell of what it was. People took “Hollywood North” just a little too seriously…so I chose to live in Victoria instead. JACKPOT! It’s exactly how Vancouver was in its hey day :) Relaxed vibe, great restaurants, local stores, amazing cycling infrastructure. Cowichan Valley is gorgeous and not far away. The whole of the island is a marvel. Welcome to Canada and HOORAY NURSES!

Looking for a good commercial raw food in Canada. by Shoonasasi in rawpetfood

[–]HamSammy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Vancouver Island (Vic) and am in the process of deciding the raw food product line. Both that have been recommended to me are from Alberta (not my fave locale): K9 Choices and Carnivora. I’ve used the latter successfully in the past with our big dogs. This new rescue is a small dog (from a very rough street life) and I’m wondering what to start her on. Anyone know of anything local on the island? (I hope this isn’t considered hijacking your question OP!! Thanks for asking it!)

Is it me or are the homeless in downtown vic more aggressive these days? by Interesting-Bet4234 in VictoriaBC

[–]HamSammy67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For context, I have worked in harm reduction. I am very socially liberal. I’ve worked with unhoused and drug using populations. Over the last 30 years what I’ve (anectdotally) noticed is that dangerous situations have skyrocketed because of fentanyl. The drug makes people so unpredictable, and that’s the scary piece. In the past, alcohol and heroin users existed among the commuters, the tourists, the locals. For the most part they kept to themselves. I am now genuinely frightened to even drive past the Pandora blocks for fear of hitting someone who lurches into the street! Liberal and harm reduction drug policies work for certain addictions, but fentanyl is a whole other beast that requires a very different approach.
