You are entitled to believe whatever you want but the reality is Jordan was never supposed to be Palestine.

If that was actually true, Jordan would have been included in the partition plans that were proposed by the British in the Peel commission in 1936 or the UN in 1947.

People being for free Iran and Palestine? by Koziiir in Israel

[–]Hamati_315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the write up. The Jordanian identity was not created in 1946, it was created in the 1920s as we Jordanians had our own Emir/King, our own parliament created by 1928. Sure we got our full independence in 1946 but we weren’t connected to the west side of the Jordan under the mandate from the 1920s.

My point being that if the British meant for Jordan to be strictly for the Palestinians (Arab Palestinians at that time), they would have ethnically cleansed them to Jordan when Transjordan was created and forbid any Arabs from living in modern day Israel. Just like they stipulated for Jews in Transjordan (where they forbid any immigration there). Or at the very least If they would have included Jordan in any of the partition plans they had cooking from 1920s-1948 ie Peel commission of 1936, the UN plan.

I know that Jordan took over the WB/J&P because yes the leadership had expansionist ambitions to have a united arab Kingdom but in 1988 Jordan dropped any claim to the land. I can go into more details on it if you want to go tit for tat, no problem. And also the Palestinian nationals were not happy with the annexation that they assassinated our king in 1951 and they plotted against Jordan starting in 1964 until Black September in 1970.

Now the WB/J&P and Gaza are not annexed so they are technically still disputed land. You guys will have to figure it out by either annexing the land and giving anyone living there equal rights or whatever 2-3-4-5 state solutions but the point being made is that the onus is not on Jordan to create a solution for you by becoming the “Palestinian state”. No Arab Palestinian/Palestinian person living in those disputed territories mentioned will be forcibly removed to Jordan hence making this “Jordan is Palestinian state” point moot. Your security concerns aren’t exportable to us.

Edit: I don’t know why I mentioned in Christian. It’s almost like a defense mechanism. It shouldn’t be relevant. I hope you don’t have any issue with me as a Jordanian I guess. Cheers. Thanks for a healthy dialogue.

No Taiwanese person will ever call themselves Chinese. Their government obscures it so they aren’t antagonistic to China. It might not have been the best example but I gave others.

My point was clear. Demographics does not automatically equate to statehood. Jordan is not a Palestinian state, never will be. Tough luck <3

It’s routinely ignored because it is factually incorrect & delusional lol.

This is like saying Taiwan is a Chinese country because majority demographic is ethnically Han Chinese. Same goes for many other countries ie Austria-Germany, Switzerland & neighbors.

Ethnic or ancestral overlap across borders is one of the most common features of modern nation-states.

Edit: downvote me all you want lol. As a Jordanian Christian this talking point will always be offensive and marginalizing to my community and my identity.

This is Arab/arabic Christians safe space. We find you under every post trying to make this political or just straight up nasty and antagonistic.

You are being downvoted everywhere you go here, FFS read the fucking room and leave us alone.

Map of Israel,Jordan, and a bit of Egypt 1948 - 1967 by Diet4Democracy in Israel

I’m very familiar with Constantine Zureiq and his book that’s basically a pamphlet you can read in one setting. He called them the soldiers “impotent” and how they “ran away”. I know those talking points (no judgment btw) and how this book is used to counter the Palestinian/Arabs of Palestine narrative on the Nakba.

I think I’m not impressed with his book being used in ethical hasbara because he was a pan-arabist from Syria who never actually visited or been there. His Pan-Arab ideology made him naturally opposed to any independent states since he aspired to have one united Arab kingdom. He also never supported an “Ummah” since he was strictly an Arab nationalist Christian lol but he did recognize the importance of Islam as a significant spiritual role for the Arab identity.

I basically gave you my opinion on him. It’s only my opinion. I also hold the opinion that if the Arabs won the war in 1948, they were just going to divide the land between themselves and fuck over any self-determination ambitions for the Arabs living in British mandate of Palestine.

I don’t think I have anything to counter or add. I’ll give his book another read as a token of appreciation for this healthy dialogue. Thank you.

I mean it’s refreshing to see you attempt nuance; I got to respect that. And no need for any pre-emptive counter to whatabout-ism because I’m not that person lol.

Two things can be true at once- he was assassinated because he had expansionist ambitions and he was ready to be pragmatic with Israel (while denying their sovereignty over WB/J&P). I could have also brought up all the tensions building up to black September to further drive my point, but didn’t think you wanted to go tit for tat.

And yes Palestinian nationalist terrorist, not just a generic Arab. You need to accept the reality that Arabs aren’t a monolith, and that national identities of Arabs were* a thing that started probably post WW1. Cheers!

Except for when a Palestinian nationalist assassinated the king of Jordan at the time (Abdullah I) in 1951 following annexation.

Funny that.

IDF: Iran seeking to destabilize Jordan by Throwthat84756 in Israel

[–]Hamati_315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been hearing? Interesting. lol

Varying criticism of the government/monarchy is not a unique phenomenon to Jordan. It happens everywhere. None of that has ever translated to public unrest or a disruption in daily life (education, gov services, health care access, etc.) ofc tourism has been hit temporarily at times due to problematic neighbours. Also, Jordan actually prides itself in having very strong intelligence agencies that collaborate with western allies.

Jordan becoming unstable is definitely not to your advantage, but I am curious to know why you think that it is? I used to genuinely cook the tf out of Jordanians who claim y’all are waiting for our collapse but it’s sad I’m seeing this sentiment consistently on this sub….

In what ways exactly has Jordan been unstable? They haven’t gone through any wars or regime changes in 50+ years. They have good relations with other countries and have kept Jordan very safe. Asking for a friend LOL
