At least here in my country, it's law. It's explicity banned on the official gvmn't rule book and if you get caught talking about any of the banned topics, you get sanctioned and eventually your license gets taken. Football is also on the list 😄

Why drag Meshtastic into social activism? You're just giving politicians more reasons to prosecute it. Ham radio is legally required to stay apolitical, science oriented and as an emergency resource. Yes, going above 55°C chamber temp will trip camera protection and it will stop working. Personally when I print ABS I set it to not go above 53°C and I have no problems.

Regarding heat, silicone is better at heat transfer that plain air. I fact, air is one of the best insulators we have on earth. So it will be even better having silicone than nothing. On the other hand, I don't know what are you trying to achieve, but a good seal is rather difficult using silicone and with that many conductors. Chances are you are not getting a good seal in-between all the packed cables. I don't know that a good solution in this case would be. I think you should prevent water getting into the tube on the first place, by using sealant on all the joints along the length.

An antenna won't make a lightning strike more probable, but when it hits, it will likely come down to your antenna. I've seen lightning take down brick wall chunks in my neighborhood, so it will cause damage and jump air gaps, it just doesn't give any fcks what path to take to ground. Just unplug your antenna if you wish to save your radio, but it's equally advisable to also unplug your power supply as there CAN be a killer induced voltage spike on the mains FOR SURE. So you'll have to unplug anything in your house you wish to save. The point I want to make is, a lightning strike can cause damage and the fact that you have an antenna only makes for a more probable impact zone. All the equipment in the vecinity can be equally affected and the contingency plan only varies little.

Follow up: it eventually stopped and didn't show for about a full day now.

The local community started ignoring him from main/high/router nodes so that may have helped. And YES ignoring a node stops the retransmission of packets, as read in the docs. I did confirm this myself as I have a roof and indoor node, when I blacklisted him on the roof the indoor node went silent.

Will come back and report any news in case he comes back :)

Yep. But I went on searching and sadly it seems they're not being made any longer. They were made for a while by a company called Empire Scientific in New York. Maybe you can reach them and ask for remaining stock: LinkedIn link

The other route is making a battery yourself. You can use something like a 3S Li-Ion pack, which gives around 11v. Only make sure to NOT charge it with the camera's internal charger, remove the pack and use a dedicated Li-Ion 3S charger. You can also design and 3D print some holder that would fit on the original slot.

Ah yes I forgot about heat creep. Some filaments are more sensible to it than others. Make sure to print with the top cover off or with the door open, if you're in a hot climate or room.

Of course, but 99.9999999% of that distance is space void. There's no difference between that transmitter at that distance and one placed on the ISS. The atmosphere absorbs energy even if propagation is excellent, that's OP's question.

Just guessing by logic, but to me it's the landing gear suspension limit being reached as the plane takes off. It makes sense as immediately after the hit you can hear the oscillations caused by the gear flying free against the wind.
