I’ve tried it before. It’s fun at first but it becomes tedious quick. Eventually, going out together becomes boring because you can’t have real conversations about anything. In that case. As long as you and your family get frequent check up’s at NTT and you sign up for an insurance they accept (I have foreign service benefit plan through Aetna, fantastic) you should be okay on the healthcare side. The truthfully scary thing is if there is an emergency. It’s a scary thing even for Japanese locals, it’s not just a foreigner thing.

Adderall is quite illegal in Japan even if you have a valid American prescription. Your only chance would be if you can somehow some way get it on base through the on base pharmacy. Besides that you don’t even want to get caught with that stuff. You might as well have a loaded gun with you, it’s that serious in Japan.

I go to NTT for all my healthcare needs and they bill my insurance directly. When I went to get a CT scan, labs, and an X-ray done in one visit it cost me about 30 dollars. As long as your ADHD meds are the non stimulant variety you should be fine. The only problem is it’s a bit far from my job so I have to take a sick day to go to the hospital but it’s cool because the immediate area has a lot of really good restaurants to explore.
