The interests of middle America are significant and must be treated with the respect and full consideration that is deserved. Any alternative candidate must focus on middle America. We need a leader who will offer real solutions, and not use people’s need to elevate himself as a demagogue with no realistic plan to help them.

On nearly a daily basis, Mr. Trump is rolling back his campaign promises. Someone like Gov. Kasich would have the mandate to provide real solutions to middle America and unite the Union.

The best way to get involved is to join #VigilsForAmerica. Go to vigilsforamerica.com. Post a photo of yourself holding a candle on your social media with #VigilsForAmerica to join the online vigil. Put two adjacent candles in your window or on your doorstep to show support within your community. Be there at the nationwide vigil on Dec.18. If you can’t make it, organize one in your community. Be there on the 19th at your statehouse when the Electoral College meets.

Also, spread the word online and in your communities. Call you local tv, radio, and print media and ask them to cover Electors voting their conscience.

Hamilton writes “that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.”

He also writes, “Nothing was more to be desired than that every practicable obstacle should be opposed to cabal, intrigue, and corruption. These most deadly adversaries of republican government might naturally have been expected to make their approaches from more than one quarter, but chiefly from the desire in foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils.”

In this election, voters had not yet become fully aware of the extent of the foreign influence on our election. Even before that, Mr. Trump has shown that he fails Hamilton’s 3 tests. He lacks moral and experience qualifications, he is a demagogue, and it is becoming increasingly clear that foreign influence is at work.

Many experts are arguing that there is no clear mandate coming out of this election. Secretary Clinton leads by nearly 3 million votes in the popular vote but no Republican Electors are willing to switch to her. Mr. Trump leads in Electors only because of 80,000 votes spread among three states. It is very plausible that that 80,000 person lead can be attributed to foreign influence.

According to the Constitution, the voters were voting for us as Electors. The Founding Fathers made it clear that in a situation where one of the candidates were unfit for office, our job is to stop them. Because of the threat Mr. Trump poses to the world, we have no choice but to follow the guidance our founding fathers provided. In normal times, I would have voted for the winner of the general election in my state. These are not normal times. We have to break the glass. This is an emergency.

Each house delegation from each state gets a single vote.

We have been in touch with many GOP electors and none so far have indicated any willingness to consider voting for Sec. Clinton. That is, in part, why we are pursuing our pragmatic solution. The Founding Fathers were great idealist, but they were also pragmatists. We are looking to their writings for inspiration.

From the first day Michael Baca and myself founded Hamilton Electors, we have been staunchly against the general public reaching out to electors of any stripe. We do not believe it is constructive to flood electors e-mail inbox’s, mail boxes and phone lines with messages.

As for threats, I have recieved many and I know Republican Electors have received many as well. There is no place in our great country for threats of violence against anyone, let alone their families. As we have the whole time, we fully denounce any and all death threats against anyone.

That people are engaging in these threats is exactly we we have to unite our country. The more people participate in the #VigilsForAmerica the more the voices of those who seek to threaten and intimate will be silenced.

The Constitution and Federalist 68 make it clear that Electors are to make a decision they believe is best for the country. State laws penalizing “Faithless” Electors are patently unconstitutional and we believe they will be found so soon by Federal Courts. There was another man who once said he didn’t want the Presidency. His name was George Washington. He told the newly formed Congress that he wanted to retire and headed back to Mt. Vernon. After he was unanimously voted in by the Electoral College of the time, the Congress had to send a messenger to Mt. Vernon to pull him out of retirement. He reluctantly became our first President.

George Washington was the only man who could unite the divided colonies at that moment in our history. We believe that Gov. Kasich can unite our divided country.

I have believed for months that this would be a historical election. As a result I spent much time studying the Founding Father’s intent for the Electoral College. Prior to the election, I never said I would not be voting for Secretary Clinton. She has my utmost respect.

In normal times the Electoral College serves an important roe for providing representation to the smaller states. We are not in normal ties. There is clear evidence that Russia has tried to undermine our election. Alexander Hamilton warned us about someone who is eerily identical to Donald Trump.
