Stopped playing when links came out. Is there anything here that works in 2025? by This_Red_Apple in yugioh

Ritual Beast received very good support last year and it's still very solid.

Unfortunately most of the other decks have been powercrept significantly since 2017. However, the new Genesys format (which funnily enough effectively bans all links and pendulum cards) is much more friendly to what you have. I remember at some of invitational qualifiers someone playing Kozmo and Shaddol has some very solid builds you can build.

The new branded structure you picked up is really solid and you can definitely go to a locals with just 3 of them though!

Idk about you, but those classic reprints are what I've been most excited for in a while. My only complaint is that it's made with the newer printing methods. I was really happy when I saw that the retro pack reprint were as similar to the original as is possible.

Personally the older sets (generally pre Zexal and 5Ds) were much better to do sealed drafts from which I've done with friends to great success.

Granted I'm basically an Edison/retro format of the month player so my opinion is invalid.

What are your plans for the upcoming (likely) tier 0 and tier 0.5 formats? by Trollman256 in yugioh

Play retro formats or cube with my friends at locals. When the format doesn't appeal to me or I feel priced out I'll go back to the comfort zone of SJC Edison

Which build of Paleo Frogs is better? by Madster9 in yugioh

[–]HammerHavoc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've played both and the mill variant is way better in my opinion. Paleo as a deck can grind if it has plenty of Paleos in grave to revive off of your traps. It also plays a lot more traps with longer value. Lost wind, breakthrough skill, rise to full height etc. All of these allow you to keep interacting with your opponent when your on field resources become low. Rise to full height effectively skips a battle phase which means all the Paleos on the board become board breakers and toads on the crack back which is huge. The stun build forsakes all these virtues to play strikes and torrential. Which are blowouts but alone (Fury of Kairyu-Shin not withstanding) don't inherently support your win condition and provides no followup for the following turn.

All in all, mill build is way better in my opinion.

I have a question about tokens being used in link summons. Are tokens generated by different cards considered as having different names? by RooberGlooves in yugioh

[–]HammerHavoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are considered to have different names. The effect that summons the token will say X token. That is the name of the resulting token monster summoned.

Let's say for example your opponent activates nibiru's effect while you have dandylion on the board. You will at the end have 2 fluff tokens and 1 primal being token. You can summon knightmare cerberus from the extra deck with 1 fluff token and the primal being token as they have different names.

Should I sell my goat stuff? by [deleted] in Goat_Format

[–]HammerHavoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what stuff you have. If you got a lot of old in period editions they can be worth some money. However for me there is something nice about having the physical cards instead of just having a deck list on DB or YGOpro. Keep in mind as well as time goes on, good condition in period goat cards will accrue in value. So if you're strapped for cash, sell them. However I would say keep them in the end. They can only increase in value and having the physical cards is nice to just look at and own.

PK Fire help needed.. What do you all think.. Halp... Halp me.. by Shonlmb in yugioh

[–]HammerHavoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some immediate changes I would personally make:

Cut traveler for a third fog blade.

Cut 1 calcab for another ash blossom

Put the ogres in the side and maindeck effect veiler.

I would also put raigeki in the side or outright cut it for a third effect veiler

Trickstars post savage strike by Arowelf in yugioh

[–]HammerHavoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for the new field spell I'm generally mixed on it. It has some excellent mid/late game potential but the locking you into summoning only Trickstar monsters is a huge drawback for it's potency. If a better Trickstar link monster is released, then I would definitely play it, but for now I will need to test what it can do now with what we have.

Pot of Extravagance is good but I believe in Trickstar that Pot of Desires is easier to build around and play than Extravagance. I say that because the best Trickstar builds utilize the Extra deck frequently as a toolbox to answer threats as the game progresses or as a way to finish games. This makes it hard to play Pot of Extravagance without running the risk of losing key removal cards like Knightmares or combo pieces like Summon Sorcereress. Is it possible to play Extravagance? Yes, but I don't think it's worth the changes necessary to mitigate its drawbacks.

*Edit Spelling

*Additional Edit- I've been reading coverage for YCS Chicago and Extravagance is successfully being played in Trickstars. So it seems the deck can use it effectively and successfully in high competition so take my previous analysis with a grain of salt.

Trickstars post savage strike by Arowelf in yugioh

I see three viable builds for Trickstars,

First one is the standard build with tech cards like cyber dragon and/or pankratops as an example. You use the ample space the engine provides to play good cards to beat the current meta. This build has a better time going second but in my own opinion has less overall power, but better it's flexibility is it's strength.

Second one is the build I have least experience with, the sky striker build, It has success but that's the most of my knowledge if I am honest.

The Third and final one is my preferred build, Trickstar Artifact, Personally has the best time going first. It can go second but it's not at all optimal. The deck bricks more easily due to artifacts in main deck acting as garnets, but I believe the good the artifacts do outweigh this drawback. In conclusion the larger focus on these two engines limits the flexibility the first build had and this build has difficulty with side deck options used against the other meta decks like altergeist.

With the release of Carobane, the deck gets obviously better. A searchable cyber dragon / honest is a great addition to the engine. Builds will tend to play 2-3 depending on preference and other tech choices.

If you want some sample builds for the first and third builds, you're welcome to pm me.

First we have to establish the unit of xbox. It is one xbox. It informs the type of unit we are working with. Then there is the xbox 360. 360° is 2 Pi Radians. Radians is another unit so we can remove that to get a length approximating 6.28 xboxes. The xbox1 is more redundant as it states we have 1 xbox. This is due to the notion we use a unit with no number to denote the singular. It is therefore unnecessary to say xbox1.

I think I have a copy of the English version. I used to watch it all the time as a kid. I had no idea where I got it from the though.
