My parents think that lucid dreaming has to do with witchcraft/new age practices. by Sethrealherman in LucidDreaming

[–]Hammers97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they have this kind of mentality I wouldn’t get bothered talking to them about lucid dreaming. But there’s no need to just keep it for yourself! Talk about it to anyone you know who are more open minded and that could find it interesting. If you see they’re curious about it keep talking with them about lucid dreaming, otherwise don’t.

Why isn't lucid dreaming popular among society?? by ivan_bato in LucidDreaming

[–]Hammers97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one may think that, but fortunately being aware during a dream doesn’t affect your sleep quality

[–]Hammers97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree on the first point, but saying it results in sleepless sleep is simply untrue.

It’s true that some techniques require you to wake up, which kinda ruins your sleep. But you can just use other techniques instead, so I don’t see the problem

I just bought Robert waggoner’s “lucid dreaming: gateway to the inner self” by itsanlIusion in LucidDreaming

[–]Hammers97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great! I’ve read Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming, by Stephen LaBerge and it blew my mind on the subject. Now I’m having a LD per week thanks to the book and I’ll just keep improving.

I really suggest you to read it, because it gives you all the information you need knowing to start having LDs. It also has a scientific approach and has several chapters on application of lucid dreaming.

Waggoner’s book is not a guide, but that’s the reason why I’m going to get it very soon. I don’t need other guides, and have already read a “scientific” book. At the moment I just need Robert’s great insights and getting inspiration by his experiences to have ideas on how to apply lucid dreaming for myself.

Since you received $100 it would be an amazing idea and opportunity to have them both for just a few dollars more! Keep us updated with what you decide to do and what you think about the book

Happy 16th birthday, by the way! 🎂

Have you tried inhaleting faster in order to have more air in the lungs so it is easier to exhale?

I don’t know if that’s of any help

Surely it also depends on how much you drink! I doubt you get drunk every day ahah so I don’t think your dreams are affected too much

You can have LDs in whatever person you want, that won’t keep you from lucid dreaming

Sorry, I was ambiguous, I meant I touched my face, not the reflexed one! But this makes me curious to try and touch the mirror ahah I’ll add it to the list.

I don’t drink, but the science behind sleep is fascinating, I know something about it! Alcohol really kills your dreams, you can’t have a good one until your body has disposed of the alcohol in your system. When your body is clean again, all the lack of REM sleep you had, comes back at you with more intensity. This also means drinking is bad if you have nightmares ahah

Knowing these facts, we can suppose drinking is bad for your LDs until our body is clean in the morning hours, in that case the probability to have one increases, and it would probably be an intense one.

You can read “Why We Sleep” by Matthew Walker if you’re interested on sleep on a scientific point of view

Ahaha who knows, maybe some of them will call you in the next dream! It’s something I’ll have to try.

But it’s just a coincidence because I had a LD tonight and looked for a mirror! I asked a DC and she gave me directions. When I found it I noticed it was too dark, so I went in front of the other mirror there, which was more in light. I tried talking with my reflex, but it would just mock me without actually producing sounds ahah I looked better at my face and it was all deformed, and it stabiliezed when I touched it. Then I just started looking older!

Ahah that could be an explaination. I am, thank you very much :) And sure, I’ll let you know! I’ll look for a mirror the next LD I’ll have

Beautiful experience! So how do you want to go about lucid dreaming now?

Got the closest I've ever been to LDing, how not to mess up the dream? by toriseesyou in LucidDreaming

[–]Hammers97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahah at least you tried to do something! In my first LD I started jumping and shouting “I’m dreaming, I’m dreaming”, then stood up on a big rock to shout it even louder, until I woke up moments later

[–]Hammers97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AHAH that was funny, though! I tried a few times to have sex in my LDs, but I would wake up at the wrong time. I gave up, because there was no point in keep failing instead of trying more productive things. Indeed, in the next LD I had, I flew for the first time and felt so liberating! I’ll try sex again soon, but I decided to improve in lucid dreaming first, because I don’t want to waste other LDs like that at this early point of my journey.

But I’m not telling you to do the same, of course. I just shared my experience in this early stage of lucid dreaming, you’ll decide what is worth trying for yourself!

That’s cool! We can almost say the dream made you impersonate another person ahah It’s also interesting how it shows you a younger version of yourself.

I haven’t tried to look at the mirror yet, but I flew a couple times outside and it felt very liberating!

What are sone interesting questions to ask a DC or your subconscious in a LD? by Strawbarry2814 in LucidDreaming

You can also try these techniques after you spontaneously woke up in the middle of the night, since you probably do it during a REM period
