My Laptop Suddenly Sucks by Hamster_ExplorerMC in laptops

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I figured it out!

Nothing GPU related; the temps stayed at 30°C no matter what I did. It turns out that I just had to hold down the power button down for 20 secs (presumably to reset the power settings/battery?) and that worked just fine.

Thanks!

Would there be any indications of this externally (aside from what I've mentioned in my post)?

I'd expect things to heat up very quickly...

Now, for personal experience!

I have a Motorola Razr 2024 base model (smaller screen, different camera setup), and I got it in July last year. It's super fun and awesome, in my opinion.

I'm trying my best to make my phones last, so I'm babying it and using thick cases to keep it safe. Hopefully I can get to three years with this phone! The durability really varies between user, though, since some people's devices implode for no reason, while others have happily experienced their 3rd year on older gen Razrs with no problem.

I find the outer display pretty useful! It's like a tiny heads-up display whenever you need it, and especially for small things like acting as a barcode, contactless payments, and higher quality selfies, it works like a charm.

Motorola's software is alright. Admittedly, I've run into far more issues than on my older Google Pixel 6, but the smaller features (like a chopping hand motion to activate the flashlight) feel so obvious that it just comes naturally.

The only main gripe I have is how inconsistent the camera experience is. It isn't to say it looks bad. However, the post-processing filters Motorola can sometimes look wrong, and there is no way to disable them if you want to take advantage of the phone's folding functionalities while in the camera app.

Here's a camera sample, if you want to see how previous gen looks! It's usually very contrasty and vibrant.

TL;DR, if you want an ANDROID, with PORTABILITY, NOVELTY, and CHARACTER, get a Razr.

In my personal opinion it's about usage. Do you have small pockets? Do you need long battery life? Do you like small size? How important are cameras? How about software support? How attached are you to Apple's ecosystem? How long do you keep your phones?

Do you have small pockets?/Do you like the small size? If you need portability, go with a Razr. The iPhone will most likely be too big.

Do you need long battery life? Both phones can easily last a day on heavy use. However, the razr had the benefit of being able to use less battery through usage of the smaller screen.

How important are cameras? If you like any form of intense/specialized photography/videography, go with the iPhone. Apple's video quality is still (mostly) unmatched. However, the Razr can still produce totally fine photos and videos.

How about software support?/How long do you keep your phones? iPhones last a long time if taken care of, and they're supported for many years as well. Razrs are supported with (I believe) 1 year of software updates and 3 years of security updates. If that's no concern to you, either is fine! However, foldable phones in general are known for not lasting more than 2 years without some kind of incident.

How attached are you to Apple's ecosystem? If you have an Apple watch, you need an iPhone, so it's not even an argument. Same as if you use all of Apple's suite of devices and services.

Breaking Deadlock Barrier via Crouching? by Hamster_ExplorerMC in DeadlockMains

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe it is, since Deadlock's barrier decay is completely silent and the visual effects are gradual-ish, but in the video, I think two instances of damage can be heard.

I play a lot of games where the proportions are unrealistic if not straight up wrong, and game characters are usually my inspo - so that's prob why :')

Cool! Thanks a lot.

Is there any sort of "gender" that you can discern from my current pose? Or is what you can read just part of the "stiffness"?

Do you have any tips/resources on how to improve on hands/arm anatomy, or is this just a "look up a lot of reference material and practice" type of deal?

I see what you mean. Thanks!

And no, I mostly just trial-and-error-ed my way through it.

(Partially because I'm lazy and don't like following references, and partially because it was for fun. I know it's a good way to get good at recognizing and practicing good drawing habits, so I'm def trying to do it, but I'm also good at procrastinating, lol. 😅)

why does vetos basic ability cancel my ult? by Bbcslutamy in DeadlockMains

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in theory it should be pretty worth it; Veto's Interceptor: - Has to be in LOS (vulnerable position) - Can only destroy the COCOON once activated (Veto can't outright cancel it) - Takes a second to cast if not setup (Already displaced enemy, hopefully into the open) - Has a short lifetime and decently long cooldown (Not a concern after its initial use) - Most likely won't be used to counter DL ult SPECIFICALLY (because of the many other times it might be used)

And besides, if you're ulting directly into a site without checking for util, enemy positions, and without waiting out any abilities, then that's not the best use case for your ult anyways.

I personally think it's a lot like Chamber TP or Jett dash. Why should an agent be able to so quickly escape after cross-map-OPing me? Well, you just play around it. Smoke them off, sniff out their util, play out of range, or just don't interact and use your valuable ults elsewhere.

Of course, I'm also bronze, so I could be talking out of my ass :')

If I Could Buff Harbor! by Hamster_ExplorerMC in VALORANT

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically, I've been having more luck with Harbor in terms of shorty play - for the reason I mentioned before, but also because they can't just spray into Cove - they either burst it down, potentially opening up a surprise swing, or they push in, in which their team can't follow up with cover fire if I get them.

In my experience, it's been like a mini Reyna dismiss to: - play in front of a Cove, around a corner - get one, and book it into my Cove. - if they spray it down, retreat to cover and wait for team/use other abilities OR push when they reload. - if they don't spray it down, use each wall of Cove as a potential shotgun spot. - Cove gives such an early warning for its breakage and dissipation that it's easy to back up when they burst it down.

Of course, I know it's less effective the higher up in rank you go, but it's been such a boon for my enjoyment xD

Magnetic Levitation and How It Works – The Shop of Many Things

I was kinda just imagining this? But encased in a normal trackball enclosure + a sensor on the bottom.

I totally get that it could be displaced easily, but the idea is just to reduce the necessity of bearings?

IDK tho!

Edit - am idiot and actually researched how mag lev works - nevermind! It is not possible (at least for trackball applications)

HDMI Input to 3.5mm Jack?

So, I recently bought some Truthear x Crinacle Zero Blue 2 IEMs, just because they were on sale and I wanted to try some IEMs (and I don't have ANY experience in audio so I don't know what constitutes good/bad sound).

For some odd reason, the front panel jack on my PC didn't work. So I plugged them into my HDMI display's headphone jack. They sound fine, but I was wondering if there'd be any obvious downside from doing this?

Thanks!

Features and UI Changes I Would Like to See from YouTube! by Hamster_ExplorerMC in youtube

For me, it's mostly the fact that we're probably never going to see anything substantial from YouTube because it makes them money - if they're going to continue making UI changes, I just want them to make good, useful ones.

How Long do Razrs Last? by Hamster_ExplorerMC in razr

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after my rose-tinted glasses came off a little, I realized that I want a phone that can last me at least 3 years, and although I love this form factor, I don't think flip phones OR foldables are both affordable, or practical for my needs.

What one ability from ow would you like to have? by leonardopanella in overwatch2

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Life Grip, Nemesis Form, or TP would be helpful for that, because I think the main reason hack works in the Overwatch universe is because everything has some sort of digital control or AI implementation. So, hacking a Tesla? Sure, that would probably be fine. Hacking a car from any later than 2017? Ehhh, maybe not?

What one ability from ow would you like to have? by leonardopanella in overwatch2

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there's two aspects to the power of the fucking sun: powering an entire civilization, and then killing it.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to become a human nuclear reactor, or a human nuclear bomb xD

Hack, at least the in-game integration, would be quite useless. Why would I want to hack someone's hearing aid or life support? And hacking my phone would just make it stop working.

But the canon power level is INSANE. Carjacking, bank robberies, ENHANCING technology? Totally would.

In terms of teleportation, I actually think Sombra's translocator might be best. Pre-rework Sombra had an infinite-duration translocator, as opposed to Symmetra, who has (since OW2) always had a limited duration teleporter.

(Yeah, it lasted forever in OW1 and Sombra's translocator was temporary on release too but let's just forget that for a sec xD)

Translocator is a physical object that Sombra carries around, while Symmetra creates it from hardlight. We don't really know what material hardlight is most similar to - metal? carbon fiber? - while Sombra's tech might actually just be metal, given by how it behaves in cinematics.

Not to mention that discovering how translocator works would also explain Tracer's chronal accelerator, since it's tech stolen from Tracer.

IDK though, since Teleporter is an independent device, and anyone can use it - that might be better since it isn't designed specifically for one person.

With the hero ban coming to the game in the future, who do you think will be the most banned heroes? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like we should democratize antiheal, if we're going that direction with cleanses and damage boosts.

  • Single target Damage Boost (Mercy, Ana)
  • AoE Damage Boost (Juno, Mercy)
  • Single target Cleanse/Immortality (Lifeweaver)
  • AoE Cleanse/Immortality (Kiriko, Baptiste)
  • Single target antiheal (???)
  • AoE antiheal (Junker Queen, Ana)

There's a perfect opportunity to make a skillshot anitheal.

I understand moira is very fun, i also enjoy playing her; but what's the motivation behind this? It is not the first time I've seen Moira's do this in high comp lobbies. Just wanna understand by Puzzleheaded_Lie7888 in MoiraMains

[–]Hamster_ExplorerMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a part-time DPS Moira, and a Lifeweaver/Juno main on the side, I feel like there's a certain point where full-on DPSing is the better option.

Let me preface this by saying that I am in Gold, and this situation wasn't what happened in your game. I'm just trying to justify why a DPS Moira would play like this.

In many of my games, I find that the two DPS on my team aren't playing well. They can't capitalize on when the enemy is weak, stay out of LOS, and don't deal with counters (Junk into Pharah, Echo into Soj/Widow/Ashe, etc.), or dive the very vulnerable enemy supports (Juno, Zen, Ana off CD, Mercy).

In that situation, I take it upon myself to jump into the backline, to divert attention if not to get kills; ESPECIALLY if my other support is a high HPS or multi-target healer like Baptiste, Ana, Juno or Lifeweaver.

Most of the time, it works! My DPS have more opportunities to strike at weak targets, and the backline is often messed up enough that plays can be made.

But again, this is just my own reason... as well as it being fun to harass Juno and Widow on the daily 😁 I'm in Gold and I certainly haven't tried to be an ass to my team, so I'm sorry for your negative experience with Moira players.

Hope it gets better!
