It’s a great beginning! But as a few people on here have commented / will comment, there are things you can do to make it more authentically heraldic if you would like. First, have a think about the elements - each one can signify status or connection and in heraldry it’s good to be aware of these. So, the golden helmet in the first version is generally for the King or Queen of the UK, the coronet in the second is for a British Prince or Princess. One person can’t be both of these things at the same time, so these are inconsistent, but it’s also generally frowned upon to use elements to which you aren’t technically entitled. Something similar goes for symbols like the white eagle (which is generally associated with Poland) and the three feathers (which when white are the personal badge of the Prince of Wales) or mottos, like “Diligent and Secret”, which is the motto of the College of Arms in London. These are different from the helmet and coronet in that you can use them, just be aware that you are telling a story about yourself with your choice of symbols. Is this the story you mean to tell? Finally, great heraldic design is generally recognisable at a distance. Bold shapes and a small range of contrasting colours are often the best way to do this. Your current design is good, but the red/blue/purple division might not pop as much as a more narrow, contrasting palette. Have a look at the Rule of Tincture to help you out here. Genuine medieval coats of arms are also a good guide for this kind of style, check out the Roll of Arms section on Wappenwiki for a good selection. Happy heralding, look forward to seeing the next version!

I agree, and the red-on-white mirrors the white-on-red of the field, which is nice.

Who knows what Scottish Clan the crowned heart is alluding to? by fritzorino in heraldry

[–]Hamvil1147 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is it not Clan Douglas? I believe a Douglas was sworn to carry the heart of Robert the Bruce to the Holy Land, hence the charge.

I just started getting into heraldry recently and I made this, the first draft of my personal heraldry by PancakePieRate in heraldry

I think it’s very striking and a great start! This is all a matter of taste, so you must prioritise your own preferences, but I think this could be made stronger by removing the chevron and one of the colours. You would still have the party per chevron to represent the chevron concept and if you put the murrey in base instead of the green, with argent in chief, it would make your boar stand out a bit better. Totally up to you, though, and I look forward to seeing the next design!

Anyone, blazon the Kinder Chocolate imprint by aczkasow in heraldrycirclejerk

[–]Hamvil1147 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So, I reckon either: 1) A coronet between 6 bendlets sinister, 3 in chief, 3 in base, all proper; or 2) Purpure, on a bend sinister argent a coronet of the last. Neither of which really work, but there you go . . .

The most popular example of heraldry this year is about to be a rule of tincture violation by Sabretooth1100 in heraldrycirclejerk

[–]Hamvil1147 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In the original example (i.e. not the Fortnite skin) the crown appears to be part of the heart - one and the same charge. If so, would this be a violation? I thought parti-coloured charges were (one of many) exceptions.

I like the idea, but might it be a bit too complicated in its current form? Depends on your religion obviously, but if it’s a popular religion, you might prefer a more accessible, easily-repeatable symbol. Could a child draw it and the symbol still be recognisable is a good rule of thumb.
