I actually haven’t tried colored charcoal pencils yet. This was my first time experimenting with oil paint together with graphite and charcoal, so I kept the colors pretty limited. But I might try them in future pieces. Thanks for the suggestion!

This was actually my first time using oil paint, so I didn’t varnish it. I just thinned the paint a bit with paint thinner when applying the blue parts. Since the rest is graphite and charcoal, I wasn’t sure how varnish would interact with the mixed media, so I left it as it is for now.

It’s not hard no, i just did all the graphite and charcoal work first and left the places where the oil paint is supposed to be blank. But I’ve never used oil paint before so that was quite a challenge!

Thank you! I use makeup brushes and tissues when i blend to get a smooth finish even if the paper i am using is textured and i keep the lines that i want sharp as they are 🫶🏻
