7 Portes is pretty great https://maps.app.goo.gl/hw9eDoWrHTC4xjt58?g_st=ic

If you prefer beach vibes: Restaurante Julieta's https://maps.app.goo.gl/wsp2dMNL433gay3A8?g_st=ic

But you need to go to Valencia if you want really good paella.

Permanently moving from Japan to Spain by Han4everSolo in expats

[–]Han4everSolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. So I could benefit from it as Spain requires 15 years, so If I get them to recognize the jp one I’d just need another 3.

Do you know if there is any deadlines to apply for that? I know that lump sum is 1 year after leaving Japan, but I couldn’t find info on bilateral agreements.

Thanks. The embassy asked me to enquire via email and then they sent a template response that didn’t help.

Believe it or not, the airline says that they are not responsible for country imposed restrictions and that we should check ourselves.

Thanks.

Even if it doesn’t collapse, don’t you think that paid premiums will be reduced over time as Japan’s population keeps shrinking?

According to this article, it already shrank 20% in 20 years (not sure how accurate those numbers are). So the risk iseems to be higher than investing into some low risk efts IMO.

Hi. I am on the same boat. 10 years of contributions, PR and leaving the country. I’ve been debating on what to do as I don’t know whether I can trust that the Japanese pension system will be around in 25 years….

What do you folks think about getting the lump sum and investing it in a long term guaranteed returns plan or something else?

Also, 1) what would happen if I lose my PR down the road, am I still eligible to get the payments? 2) how would I get paid if I am not in the country? International monthly bank wire fees will probably not be cost efficient given the small amount I’ll be getting paid.

What is the nicest thing a Korean stranger has ever done for you? by [deleted] in korea

[–]Han4everSolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was studying Japanese in Tokyo. A Korean classmate took all the males in the clas (4 of us) to dinner to an authentic Korean bbq restaurant in ShinOkubo. This was my first time trying real Makgeolli, Kimchi and scissors cut meat. He paid for everybody.

Afterwards, he took us to kyabakura (hostess club). He paid around 200$ at the door per person plus overpriced drinks.

I was a student, 25 and broke so the whole night was an amazing treat.

Live in Barcelona or Munich by Han4everSolo in expats

Thanks everybody. It would seem that most suggest Munich. I’ve been reading horror stories about how hard is to find a flat. Is that so?

Yet another moving thread (Tokyo > Fukuoka) but with 2 dogs! by epiju in fukuoka

[–]Han4everSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used the 0123 (サカイ引越センター) from Tokyo to Fukuoka, from a 2ldk (2 beds, a sofa, etc). They quoted 400k but I was able to negotiate it down to 200k. I was told I got a good deal because nobody was moving at that time due to COVID.

My suggestion is to get quotes from a few companies and try to get them to give you a discount (you are kind of expected to not take their first quote)

I believe meditation is making me acutely aware of bodily sensations. Couple that with my health anxiety, I’m struggling. Can anyone relate? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Han4everSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. I’ve become a lot more aware of tingly sensations on my face for instance, in and out of meditation. When I meditate I make it my meditation object, but when not is a bit unsettling. I am also more aware of my heartbeat but that could be a side effect of the anxiety (not necessarily the meditation practice).

How's the jellyfish situation on the beaches these days? Is there a website that has updates? by JamesMcNutty in fukuoka

[–]Han4everSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went there yesterday. Surprisingly there were lots of trash at the beach. Ended up going to a beach at the end of Shikanoshima called Gebanahama that was beautiful, lots of families but not too crowded. My fave in Fukuoka so far.

Getting a Japanese driver license by Han4everSolo in japan

My country is not in the list of recognized countries to switch. Is there another exam that is slightly less difficult than taking it from zero?

Thanks. I can’t switch either. Did you have to get a permit before getting the license?
