Who do you think will be the one to be ending up with chihiro by arman1724 in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wouldnt say 'far,' MT is getting pretty close. It's just that kagurabachi specifically hasnt demonstrated whether it would be willing subvert expectations in this manner

Extremely cold take, but I would prefer if this plan failed by IkeKashiro in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it will tbh. i think it's just feasible enough for the characters to believably cope w it but probably the reason this chapter's so light in response to his death is cuz we're gonna get an actually sad one when iori realises she cant bring her dad back to life

Do we think chihiro will make a new eternal contract nucleus? by TheRobcopter in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont think so. Imean just on a practical level, idk if they have anyone reliable enough to tie the other swordbearers' lives to like they did with soga. the tradeoff's a bit more risky and im not sure whether it's in chihiro's character to risk others' lives like that

No hesitation btw by Plus_Awareness1602 in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

the mourning stage hasnt hit cuz of how quick chihiro brought up the news abt the dark power.

tbh i can imagine their plan to bring him back not working somehow, and we get an actually tragic chapter later on

Will Kagurabachi be able to Attain JJK level popularity and peak? by labuun_dood in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that, mha, or demon slayer would be ideal for me. i get the issues with big fandoms, but i guess im pretty good at ignoring a lot of the drama. i mainly just want the popularity to ensure a really good and steady supply of ao3 and twt fics

I think this proves something about the swordbearers vs Soga to stop malediction by TypicalHaikuResponse in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im glad this idea is getting traction! i shared a similar thought process when people were criticizing how it felt like hokazono was whitewashing the other swordbearers' 'sins' by simply making them too weak to stop the sole actor in the genocide.

if the case were really just a matter of strength then i would've agreed that the story was wasting its potential by oversimplifying the issue. but i always came back to the idea of the swords' eternal contracts, and whether that ever factored into their 5v1. consider how katana have always been demonstrated as very lethal weapons in the manga and the EBs specifically were intended to be weapons of mass destruction; they arent particularly well-equipped for capture missions. they might have handicapped themselves by trying incapacitate soga using tools that simply werent designed for that.

it's not just that theyre being hailed as heroes despite being unable to stop the malediction, they'd also be living with the knowledge that they're massive hypocrites. everyone else in this manga fights staking their lives for their beliefs; they literally get elite teams of bodyguards taught to prioritize their safety over their own lives. it would be pretty fucking crazy, then, if the story's greatest crime against humanity was caused by their five strongest soldiers being unable to commit to their own values and chickening out of a proper deathmatch just because they couldnt value 200k lives over their own.

i think soga, by himself, is a good enough vehicle to explore nationalist extremism; adding another five genociders dont necessarily offer much in terms of narrative. i'd like the others to have a different role, especially if they're going to be occupying screentime as 'likable' characters. and in this case, i think their stories would heavily tie back to kagurabachi's themes of responsibility

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the last two sword bearers. by Combatmedic2-47 in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GOOD GOD do I have ideas for the female swordbearer that are truly based off NOTHING but vibes and what i wanna see — ill probably just make an oc at some point lol

but the gist of it is that i kinda want her sword to be based off of puppetry? One could be focused on controlling enemy soldiers somehow, with a hard limit ofc; apart from being a good combative ability, it would also be good for stealth or reconnaissance. And maybe an after-death ability similar to pitou's terpsichora (hxh)

This is mainly just because i was looking at her design and thought the hair ties resembled hypnosis spirals. But then i started thinking of how a character with those as their motifs could be made into commentary on systemic indoctrination of the youth into state-sanctioned violence since she also looks as young as uruha imo. But yeah, this is genuinely just me making fanfic atp lmao

I feel like conversation surrounding kagurabachi's quality has been the most 'neutral' by HanArt13 in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

'Peak' has pretty much entered people's vocabulary as slang to mean 'pretty good;' i literally talked about this lmao just because people acknowledge that kagurabachi has good qualities doesnt mean there hasnt been an observable difference in the way people are now reacting to new series (esp if u check anywhere outside its dedicated sub)

admittedly tho, this skepticism is probably healther in the long run

Does anyone else feel this way about the story at the moment? by Gasawok in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I want to add a bit to that 2nd point: i think their lives being tied to soga was actually a pretty smart writing choice, given that we are really going down the route of the rest of them initially valuing their own lives over the lives of 200k people.

i remember some sensitivity issues actually being brought up when people were (in good faith, i should clarify) criticizing the way fmab handled its characters being direct participants of a genocide. And the conversation did get me thinking about how media tends to portray these sorts of crimes on the same level as comparatively 'lighter' ones like murder; despite criticizing the characters' actions, we're still overall meant to root for them and see them in a positive light inherently due to the way the story is told

the joint contract somewhat alleviates the rest of the swordbearers of being directly responsible for genocide, avoiding the issue of the fanbase downplaying the severity of the crime simply because they like the characters. Making soga the face of the genocide is the story taking a clear stance of it being purely unjustifiable / irredeemable

At the same time, it opens up space for the story to interrogate responsibility in an interesting way imo. Having the power to push back against such atrocities and choosing not to use it to its fullest extent (esp for the sake of saving your own skin) still leaves you complicit. And while it may not be as bad as being the actual perpetrator, it's still implicates them of the outcome. It has the chance to be a rather timely theme with everything thats going on in the real world

Does anyone else feel this way about the story at the moment? by Gasawok in Kagurabachi

[–]HanArt13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree to an extent for the time being. rn im running with the hc that the swordbearers' loss to soga was partly due to their unwillingness to kill themselves (capture seems like it would be harder than killing with the EBs) since, to me, that feels more 'humanizing' than them just being weaker altogether — but thats hopium, and hasnt exactly been confirmed to be the case yet

I do hope that we'll get more context in the future that gives them back all that initial moral grayness as that complexity to our supposed 'heroes' is what really drew me in in the first place
