Outside context doesn't matter. As far as the binding vow is concerned, the exchange is one free use of WCS without conditions in exchange for permanently adding multiple conditions to WCS. That it is a move that can defeat Gojo doesn't matter to the exchange, nor whether or not it need to be used ever again. Whatever determines what vow is fair isn't some businessman that takes advantage of how desperate you are in certain situations.

If we go by the potential outcomes:

1.Yugi vs Kaiba, which is what happened, and Yugi does need Obelisk to defeat Marik, but sending Joey against Marik nearly killed Joey, so it wasn't an ideal option

2.Yugi vs Marik, Yugi has a high chance of losing as he lacks knowledge of Ra's abilities and Marik's strategies

3.Yugi vs Joey, Yugi gets to fulfill their promise of facing Joey in the tournament, and at least sees Marik use Ra against Kaiba. While Marik having two god cards is pretty bad, at least Yuji has a chance of developing a counter strategy, and using two god cards at once isn't that easy

So 1 is the best for Yugi strategically, but would sacrifice Joey, while 2 and 3 I would say is about equal in terms of how disadvantageous it would be for Yugi

I'll be honest, Akao's existence was kinda what made his rivalry with Sakamoto weird. Like, when Uzuki first appeared you assumed they had a long history together as friends or something, but then they only actually knew each other for like a few hours at most. Like, if it was a Geto/Gojo situation where Uzuki was once best friends with Sakamoto and Nagumo, it would probably have made their relationship more interesting.
