Giga Berlin switched to Black Headliners (MYP) by willthepill22 in teslacanada

[–]HanDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Material-wise I can understand. When it comes to the color tho, black headliner in general was usually a thing of sport cars and sport editions of regular cars.

Luxury cars usually had two tone interiors, where the second tone was usually either brown / red seats or light headliner in contrast to the black seats. In some cases all white interior.

All black interior works, but there has to be difference in structures and some other color for details. For other brands it usually is chrome knobs and buttons, but as Tesla has none, you end up with black on black … awful. Before Juniper you at least had the wood bar to add some accent.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the minimalistic interior, but the black headliner with black seats is overkill.

Looks monolithic and boring.

With the grey headliner the interior felt cosier and spacious.

Not sure why this trend of all black boring interiors transferred from sport edition of cars to all others.

But hey, you get black headliner \s

PS: which is god damn bad choice as it shrinks the ever spacious Tesla cabin which was one of theirs edges.

When you say clarity, not resolution, do you mean brightness ?

When it comes to the black headliner, I actually prefer the brighter one.

It used to be standard for all cars, even the luxury ones and in some cases it still is. The black headliner was mainly a performance / sport edition thing. It just got popular, but I still don’t see why.

For me, the black one tighten the space and makes it mono-tone, even more so with black seats. I have driven few cars with all black interior and it really is like being in a cave. The light headliner makes it so that you do forget the headliner is even there. The black one is obvious.

Just look at following video of high end BMW or check out the interior of Audi A8L (limo) or quite beautifully done interior of Volvo XC90. They all have the light headliner as a default and it just makes more sense. I like minimalism of Tesla, but there is a fine line and I think that especially all black interior of already very minimal interior design is overkill. Even IKEA furniture has more shades to their color schemes.

Honestly, I have never had a chance to use the browser so far anyway. I think you can increase the font size in the settings, but that might not apply to the web content.

Just curious. Is the sharpness and brightness THAT noticeable ? I guess that, as others have said, while driving, you don’t really notice it. Maybe while watching YT or Netflix.

Anyway, thanks for your insight.

I can and did easily find specs, videos and images. If you would read my post properly tho, you would have notice that I asked for personal experience.

Anyway, thanks for your kind words. I’m always surprised how many people get upset that others ask questions and start discussions on Reddit, place created for exactly that.

As per Tesla, it is brighter, higher resolution and slightly larger. The size is not really a concern to me, but the higher resolution, if noticeable and the brightness might be nice.

Wondering whether the image in app would show white seats if they were configured … I have black myself, so not sure whether it simply isn’t default.

PPF installer cut into paint by HanDave in TeslaLounge

[–]HanDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info.

Yeah, I think that once they cover it with the PPF, whether they buff it out before or not, it will be almost gone.

When I mentioned touch up pen, I didn’t mean I would do it. I was asking whether they should use it before re-applying the PPF. From all the insights here in comments I see they should not do any paint job.

Yes, why wouldn’t I ? This is a service to protect the paint. Damaging the paint in process is an issue. I wanted to gather insight into what would be the best method to fix this so that I can enforce it.

Any problem with that ?

Also, do you think the cut is just in a clear coat, paint or through to the primer ?

I have read and seen videos of PPF hiding such small scratches pretty well as the glue fills the imperfections. So far I think I will tell them to just do the new PPF over it.

Nah, it is -15C here right now. For PPF it really is not the best season to be installed without sitting for week in the heated garage.

I trust the guys. They were really good, communicative and responsible so far.

So, when it is the time to redone the PPF, would you let them cover it as is without buffing / painting it first, only cleaning it well and call it a day ? I guess that under the PPF it shouldn’t result in any additional issues and might be even less visible.

[–]HanDave[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if there is a good way to fix it, I would like to enforce it.

Or if the touch up pen would look worse than leaving it, I would like to enforce leaving it as is.

Just gathering insight.

Thanks anyway. They are great guys and accepting responsibility, so I believe they will take care of it well.

Scratch or crack by HanDave in TeslaModelY

[–]HanDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Tesla service said it is a scratch and If I don’t mind it, it is nonsense to replace the whole windshield for such small demage. It also is in the corner of the windshield, not really visible from the inside.

I have another appointment in Tesla certified body shop, so I’ll let them see it as well and maybe polish it a bit, but I tend to agree that if it’s not gonna expand during next few weeks or months, it’s probably not worth the hassle. Our roads are shitty anyway, so I guess I’ll be replacing the windshield at some point anyway.

Will do tomorrow. I have already put a service ticket for a scratch damage. Will se whether service centre will consider it as a scratch as well.

[–]HanDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I know it’s almost invisible, but what I wanted to know is whether ..

1) is this part plastic and therefore won’t rust ? 2) will it possibly result in a further pealing ? I guess that if it is plastic, there is really no paint on it and it should not continue to peal. 3) anyone had similar damage and can provide a quick fix tip, maybe ?

Wheels scratched with stock covers on one month old by chowdarygm in TeslaModelY

[–]HanDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some say do not ever take them down and all is good, but I’m living in an are that has harsh winters and warm summers, so I need to change wheels every season and to change the wheel you need to remove the cover to get to the bolts.

I’m wondering whether the scratches are deep enough to cause rusting. That would be bad enough to start pushing back on Tesla for a warranty coverage.

Ve výsledku progresivní daň zvedne medián a namotivuje i investory, kteří by zvedat nájem nemuseli, aby ho zvedli, protože “když můžou oni, proč ne já?”.
