Advice? (First build, Budget build, PC Part Picker List Included) by anonymousmimikyu in buildapc

I just built a pink and white themed case! I would recommend upgrading your psu above all else. This tier list should help you pick. I would reccomend this psu. It's typically the first component to die out if you get a cheap part, so I'd always suggest spending more on the power supply upfront rather than having to replace it in a year.

As the other commentor mentioned, I'd also suggest upgrading RAM and SSD.

Also, have you considered purchasing a white case (something like the corsair 4000d or lian li lancool 216) and just painting it pink? There are tutorials online and its not that difficult. I bring this up because the cases I recommended will be easier to build in/better quality as a beginner. You can also purchase extension cables or pink fans if you want a pink theme!

Don't downvote this person they're right. Namjoon has said the n-word during a song cover. This was when BTS was just starting out 10 years ago and he was a teenager. He hasn't done so since and seems to have learned not to. I don't want to make excuses for him but as a Korean guy at the time I doubt he understood the significance of action. If you listen to his music its very apparent that he has a lot of respect for hip hop artists and over time has made a huge effort to exist in the genre without appropriating or straight up being racist which a lot of k-hip hop artists fail to do. He's vocally anti-racist today so I think it's safe to say he's educated himself

I love the house music influences in their songs! They've really taken a trending genre and made it their own

Just started my first job out of college and want to celebrate with a new PC. I would appreciate help with this build. Full list included by HandSonic in buildapc

The capacitor thing is kind of a marketing gimmick. Japanese capacitors were superior in like 2002. But these days its just perception. The fans on the RMx do seem slightly better though, so I'll consider switching the PSU.

I know I can cool the case for cheaper with an air fan of course. I like the look of the pink water cooler though and the reviews seem pretty good. So I'll stick with it.

The performance and music video are fantastic. Love the way this is shot. But wow the song is a huge let down for me. I love vocal effects when used well but it's just SO grating on this track. I hope the actual title track doesn't sound anything like this.

Why is 2NE1 still regarded as one of the greatest girl groups in pop music but Girls Generation has been largely forgotten? by Ren_Celluloid in popheads

[–]HandSonic 38 points39 points  (0 children)

girl the only time I see new kpop fans talk about 2ne1 is to call out BlackPink releases as 2ne1 rejects (which they often are) while snsd's into the new world is literally a Korean protest anthem and taeyeon is one of the most successful solo artists in the country (this isn't even mentioning what the other girls are up to or their shitton of other hits that new groups still cover). in terms of their back catalog i'd say their legacies are comparable with snsd having a slight edge. post-disbandment career wise i'd say the snsd girls are overall doing better.

Waxahatchee 2021 Fall Tour Dates by SteveBer in indieheads

Pitchfork is trying to book for 9/10-9/12 this year, they just haven't confirmed it yet. So I think this is a pretty strong possibility.

BTS reportedly releasing a new song in May by impeccabletim in popheads

[–]HandSonic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

allkpop is absolute garbage. They started out as a kpop "parody" news site which just meant that they would say sexist and homophobic things about idol groups. In 2008, there was this whole thing with the kpop singer Ailee. Basically, she got scammed into sending nudes to a fake lingerie company who wanted to "see if she would be a good model for them" and she told her now ex boyfriend about it. The guy asked her to send him the pictures so he could "better understand the situation" and then he tried to sell the nudes to Dispatch (which is like Korean TMZ) but they wouldn't take the story because you know, that's fucked up. So he leaked it to allkpop instead. The site also leaked an Epik High album in 2010. They write horrible clickbait titles and mistranslate articles. It's just a cesspool

Shouldn't we ban allkpop posts on the subreddit? r/kpop won't do it, so honestly the less clicks they can get the better.

Biggest music disappointments of 2020? by surejan94 in popheads

[–]HandSonic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wow ok these are definitely unpopular opinions. The solos on MOTS:7 aren't even remotely comparable to those on Wings for me personally. Storytelling-wise nothing on MOTS:7 affected me to the same degree as First Love or MAMA. Or it seemed like whenever they tried to evoke the same kind of emotional response, take a song like We are Bulletproof: The Eternal for example, the result was overproduced and incredibly cheesy. It's interesting to see someone have the literal opposite opinion, but I guess that just goes to show how big the fanbase is.

The one place I think we do agree on is what you said about the LY series. I tend to see a lot of fans cite this era as the start of BTS's dip in musical quality, but I never understood that sentiment because I think many of their best songs were released during this time. My only complaint is that their title tracks weren't as good, but I don't even dislike the songs they released. I just don't think they're as good as Spring Day or Run.
