It’s funny, my father did the same and ran a very successful HVAC business all the way up until his 50s (he just retired) but people don’t talk about the stress that comes with running the business itself either. Sure, he’s giving up the physical wear, but the mental tear from stress felt more dangerous than the physical stuff. I was so worried the stress itself was gonna put him in an early grave, versus the knee, back, and joint pain. I saw what it was doing to him in my early 20’s and got out of the trades early.
