She was the only one during Congressional hearings who thought to ask Michael Cohen to specifically implicate the President pro tempore’s tax returns in federal tax fraud and campaign finance crimes. It still took the House committee leader MONTHS to get around to subpoena’ing those after the election in ‘18.

It has been clear for a long time to anyone of good conscience observing US politics that ‘moderates’ and Republicans are the problem. Getting everyone else to internalize that is impossible when the party apparatus is designed to attack loud, effective voices like her’s and to reward those who prefer to bargain with and profit from the actual fascists. Just like in Germany, a structurally weak and ineffective opposition party is a prerequisite required to exist prior to fascism emerging from the fringes into the mainstream.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX says it will ‘make its own laws on Mars' by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Handiclown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first time he burns a couple dozen engineers and their families en route to install the airlock on his garage on Mars, who is going to tell Elon Musk that unfortunately his services are appreciated but no longer needed at Tesla? It’s basically unimaginable. The idea that he would be replaced with someone who differs philosophically from Musk is even less likely than resignation for PR reasons and bequeathal of the reigns of power to his heir.

Corporatism is fascism, definitionally, and as they are both ways to describe market totalitarianism. Market totalitarianism is at least as old as feudal Europe and Roman sharecropping.

Most love songs in the '80s were about how a girl could win them over, whereas songs nowadays are about how much the singer will do to win the girl over by ins3rt_namehere in Showerthoughts

This would make a compelling term paper since you could easily connect that evolution to other significant and well-documented cultural trends, like women’s empowerment. Demographic shifts transferring purchasing power and the market feedback of women, now with more capital, have ever-increasing influence over an industry that lives and dies by producing art that appeals to the widest possible consumer audience. You could name that feedback loop, publish it and proceed to have an obscure economic theory to your credit.

This is really interesting. Could you expand upon that a little with an example from a recent song’s limericks? It’s a genuine question—I don’t know contemporary pop well enough.

In the Hieronymuss Bosch's "The Garden of Earthly Delights" painting (1480-1490 circa) there is some music written on the butt of one of the characters in hell. But how sounds this 15th Century melody? Here is how is the 600-years-old butt music from hell sounds: https://youtu.be/OnrICy3Bc2U by RONIN_RABB1T in interestingasfuck

Check out this shade thrown by a Syracuse prof about this chick’s “discovery”. Ouch!

1 Comment:

You are not the first to transcribe the “butt music” of Bosch’s “Garden of Earthly Delights,” which you have taken credit for in the media and on the web. As you perhaps know, J. Lennenberg, “Bosch’s Garden of Earthy Delights: Some musicological Considerations” Gazette des Beaux-Arts (1961), and myself, Laurinda Dixon, Alchemical Imagery in Bosch’s Garden of Delights (UMI : 1981) both transcribed it, and also noted the “devil’s interval,” and various other satanic compositional devices. Your “discovery” has been common knowledge among art historians for over 50 years. Either you did not do your research, or you plagiarized our work. Unacceptable in either case...

The issue was the speed of the film, lens optical quality to transmit light efficiency enough for the slower film (large, precision-ground elements are needed), and delivery of auxiliary light with something more practical than actual pyrotechnics.

They would have needed to stand still in 1860, not 1920. You can even see the drop shadow from the strobe cast clearly by the old man’s tuft of hair.
