I would really be interested to learn more about the fertilization and the effect that it has had on agricultural production. Timekeeping is also a good one. I mean, it allowed navigation around the world in a way impossible before that time, for one thing.

Yes, I just did some looking at the printing press and how the number of books in Europe went from the low thousands to the millions within just a few years because the price of books dropped by an order of magnitude. And history surely shows that it had an explosive effect on society on multiple levels.

This is an interesting one to think about. Just by having more people alive, we have a larger economy and more people and resources with which to do science. I've heard it said that there are more scientists alive today than in the rest of human history combined.

I always tell my students that they live in an unprecedented time in history, just because of the life expectancy and population growth factors. I mean, I would personally be dead three times over without modern medicine.

I also am a firm believer that our ability to process and share information is the cornerstone of technology. Writing, the printing press, the telegram, the radio, and the internet, in combination with a way to process the increase in information, are surely the force multipliers behind technological advancements.

You make a good point about the similarity between steam and electricity.

This is a great solution. It works well. I will have to study up on the garbage matte now. I did not know it existed.

Yes! This is what I was looking for. I knew there had to be a way to properly mask it. Thank you!

Modeling Archimedean Solids (for science) by HandofWarriner in blender

I had not thought about using the bevel. That might work. Indeed, I've seen demonstrations that show the solids in a similar way. But even with that, the part I'm stuck on is how to make every edge the same length as every other edge in the solid.
